Minecraft PS5 is the native PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft, released by Mojang on 22 October 2024 after years in which PS5 owners played the PS4 edition. Mojang says it runs at 4K and 60 frames per second on PS5, with a longer view distance than before. The idea is unchanged: an endless, procedurally generated world of blocks where you gather resources, build, and explore caves and villages, on your own or with family and friends.

Survival and Creative modes
Minecraft PS5 offers two main ways to play. In Survival you start with nothing: chop wood, craft tools and build a shelter before nightfall brings out the mobs, while keeping an eye on health and hunger and digging deep for iron and diamonds. Creative gives you unlimited blocks and the ability to fly with no enemies, so you can focus on castles, cities and large builds. Adventure and Spectator modes are also there. The usual advice for beginners, especially children, is to start in Creative to learn the controls, then move to Survival for the challenge.

What the PS5 version adds
The clearest difference in Minecraft PS5 is performance: 4K at 60 frames per second according to Mojang, with a longer view distance so mountains and villages appear from further away. The game also supports Vibrant Visuals, which Mojang calls the biggest official visual upgrade in its history, with clearer sunrises, reflections on water and shadows in forests. It does not work in split-screen; the game switches to standard graphics when a second local player joins, and some worlds and skin packs are not yet compatible. DualSense vibration and trigger effects are supported and can be turned off in the settings.

Family and online multiplayer
Minecraft PS5 supports local split-screen for up to 4 players on one console, which makes it a natural pick for family evenings. Online, you can play with people on other Bedrock devices such as PCs, phones and other consoles; online play on PS5 needs a PS Plus subscription. An optional Realms Plus subscription gives you a private server for you and up to 10 friends, and community servers are open to join as well.

For children and parents
Minecraft PS5 is rated 7 on the UAE PlayStation Store, so it suits children from age seven, with mild fantasy violence. Online play and chat can be limited through the PS5 parental controls. The game includes optional in-game purchases such as coin packs and add-ons from the Minecraft Marketplace, so set a spending limit on a child’s account. It also teaches planning and problem-solving, and Redstone circuits let curious players build simple logic machines.

Languages and updates
The PlayStation Store lists 28 text languages for Minecraft PS5, including English, French, German, Turkish, Russian and Spanish, but Arabic is not among them. There is almost no spoken dialogue, so audio language is not an issue. Mojang releases regular free updates that add new biomes, mobs and items; they download automatically when the console is online, with no need to buy a new edition.

Who This Is Not For
Minecraft PS5 is not for players who want a clear story or guided missions; it is an open game where you set your own goals. It is not for anyone who needs an Arabic interface, because Arabic is not among the text languages listed on the PlayStation Store. If you already own Minecraft Bedrock for PS4, Mojang says you get the PS5 version free, so there is no need to buy it again. Online play needs PS Plus, and Vibrant Visuals turns off in split-screen.
