The Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition PS4 puts you inside Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 1800s — a century before Harry Potter was born, with no established characters to defer to and a castle that is entirely yours to explore. Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games under the Portkey Games label, it is an open-world, single-player action RPG.

The 1800s Wizarding World
You arrive as a fifth-year student, unusually late, because you can channel a form of ancient magic almost nobody else can. From there the map opens: the castle itself with its moving staircases and hidden passages, the village of Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and a large overland region of hamlets, ruins and goblin camps beyond the school grounds.
Setting the game a century early is the smartest decision Avalanche made. There is no obligation to retell a story you already know, and the writers were free to build their own conspiracy involving goblin rebellion, dark wizards and a secret the castle has been keeping.
Spells, Potions, Beasts and Broomsticks
Combat is spell-based and surprisingly demanding. You juggle a loadout of offensive, control and utility spells, break enemy shields with the matching colour-coded spell type, and chain casts together while dodging. Talents let you specialise as the game progresses.
Outside of fighting there is a genuine simulation layer: brewing potions, growing magical plants in the Room of Requirement, capturing and caring for beasts in the Vivarium, flying a broom across the whole map, and getting sorted into a house that shapes small parts of your experience. The companion quest line with Slytherin student Sebastian Sallow, where you decide whether to embrace the Dark Arts, is the strongest writing in the game.
What the Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition PS4 Adds
The Deluxe Edition includes four extras over the standard release: a flying Thestral Mount, the Dark Arts Cosmetic Set, the Dark Arts Garrison Hat, and access to the Dark Arts Battle Arena — a wave-based combat challenge where you test your mastery against escalating enemies.
Warner Bros. published the full breakdown on the official Warner Bros. Games page.
The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest
PlayStation editions shipped with an exclusive quest, The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop, which grants an additional dungeon, a Shopkeeper’s Cosmetic Set and your own shop in Hogsmeade. It was a PlayStation exclusive for over a year before Avalanche made it available on other platforms in a mid-2024 update, so the PlayStation version was the complete package from day one.

Playing on PS4 and PS5
This is the PlayStation 4 disc, which launched on 5 May 2023, roughly three months after the current-generation release. It runs on a standard PS4 and PS4 Pro, and plays on PS5 through backward compatibility. Note that the PS4 and PS5 builds are separate versions rather than one disc covering both, so a PS5 owner buying physically would normally want the PS5 disc instead.

FAQ – Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition PS4
Do I need to know Harry Potter to enjoy it?
No. The game is set a hundred years earlier with an entirely original cast and story. Knowing the books adds recognition, not comprehension.
What is the difference from the Standard Edition?
Deluxe adds the Thestral Mount, Dark Arts Cosmetic Set, Dark Arts Garrison Hat and the Dark Arts Battle Arena. The main campaign is identical.
How long does it take to finish?
Around thirty to thirty-five hours for the main story. Completing every side quest, collectible and challenge pushes it past seventy.
Will this disc work on a PS5?
Yes, through backward compatibility on any PS5 with a disc drive. It will run the PS4 build rather than the enhanced PS5 version.
Is it suitable for children?
It is rated PEGI 12. There is combat and some dark imagery, but nothing graphic, and it is generally considered appropriate for older children and teenagers.
Does Totot deliver across the UAE?
Yes. We ship nationwide via Aramex for a fixed AED 10, with cash on delivery, Tabby and Tamara available at checkout.
