Forza Horizon 6 is the first Forza Horizon built exclusively for ninth-generation consoles. It is set in a fictionalised Japan with a stylised Tokyo at its centre, and Playground Games describes it as the largest map in the series so far. This listing is the Standard Edition on a physical disc for Xbox Series X.
Read this before you buy: there is no Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 6. The game released on Xbox Series X|S and PC on 19 May 2026 (15 May for Premium Edition early access), with a PlayStation 5 version due later in 2026. It is not a cross-generation release and it does not use Smart Delivery to reach Xbox One, because no Xbox One build exists.
A Fictionalised Japan, With Tokyo at the Centre
The map covers a stylised Japan: Tokyo city, rural regions and mountain passes. Playground has said the Tokyo area alone is around five times larger than the urban areas in previous Horizon games, which changes the rhythm of the driving – dense city sections and long mountain routes instead of one open countryside.
Seasons and dynamic weather return and change the surface you are driving on, so the same road behaves differently across a week of real time.
Over 550 Cars at Launch
The launch roster is over 550 vehicles with the customisation and livery tools the series is known for. As with every Horizon, cars are added over time through seasonal events rather than all being available on day one.
Online, and What It Costs You
Single-player career and free roam work offline once the game is installed and updated. Online play – convoys, seasonal championships and The Eliminator, which supports up to 72 players – requires an internet connection and an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription, which is not included in the price of the disc.
What the Disc Actually Does
The disc installs the game to your console’s storage; you do not play from the disc. Expect a substantial day-one update, and keep free space available because seasonal content increases the install size over time. A disc that has been opened and linked to an account cannot be resold, so check your console model before you open it.
