The Starlink Mini Kit is the most compact dish SpaceX makes for its Starlink satellite network. Instead of a separate antenna and router, the Mini puts the WiFi router inside the antenna itself, so one slim unit about the size of a laptop does the whole job. Starlink lists it at 298.5 × 259 × 38.5 mm and 1.10 kg, and it runs on low-voltage DC power, which is why people buy the Starlink Mini Kit for cars, boats, camps, desert trips and site cabins rather than only for a home connection.

What You Get with the Starlink Mini Kit

Starlink lists the box contents as the Starlink unit with integrated WiFi, a kickstand, a pipe adapter and mounting plate, a DC power cable, a power supply and the Starlink Plug. The DC power cable is 15 m long, which gives room to place the dish on a roof rack or an open patch of ground while the power source stays inside the vehicle or tent.

The antenna is an electronic phased array. That means it has no motor and does not physically swivel to follow satellites; it steers its beam electronically. Setup is what Starlink calls software assisted manual orienting: the Starlink app shows you which way to point the dish and how to angle it, and you adjust it by hand on the kickstand.

The weight is 1.10 kg for the dish alone, 1.16 kg with the kickstand fitted, and 1.53 kg with the kickstand and the 15 m cable, according to Starlink. That is light enough to carry in a backpack, which is the main reason the Starlink Mini Kit exists.

Service Plan and Coverage: Check Before You Buy

The Starlink Mini Kit is hardware only. It does not include internet service. You activate the dish in the Starlink app and choose a service plan directly from Starlink, and the plans, prices and data options are set by Starlink, not by Totot.

Coverage and plan availability depend on your exact address and on the capacity Starlink has in that area at the time. Starlink does not publish a single guaranteed speed for the Starlink Mini Kit. Real speed depends on the plan, how busy the local network is, and whether the dish has a clear view of the sky, so we do not quote a speed figure on this page.

Power: Vehicle, Boat, Power Bank or Wall Socket

Power is where the Starlink Mini Kit differs most from the larger dishes. Starlink rates the input at 12–48V DC and 60W, with an average consumption of 25–40W. That range covers the 12V systems in most cars and boats and many portable power stations, so the Mini can run directly from a battery instead of needing mains power.

For use at home, the power supply included with the Starlink Mini Kit accepts 100–240V AC at 50–60 Hz, so it works on UAE mains electricity. If you want to run the dish from a USB-C power bank or charger, Starlink states a minimum of 100W USB Power Delivery at 20V/5A, and that setup needs Starlink’s USB-C to barrel jack cable, which is an accessory sold separately and not part of this kit.

On a long desert trip, plan battery capacity around the 25–40W average, not the 60W rating: the average is what the dish uses most of the time, while the 60W figure is the maximum input rating.

Built-In WiFi and the Ethernet Port

The router inside the Starlink Mini Kit uses WiFi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac), dual band with 3 × 3 MU-MIMO. Starlink rates the coverage at up to 112 m² and allows up to 128 connected devices, secured with WPA2. That is plenty for a car, a caravan, a small cabin or a campsite, but it is a smaller coverage area than the separate router supplied with the Standard kit.

The Starlink Mini Kit is compatible with all Starlink mesh systems, so you can add a Starlink mesh node later if the signal does not reach every room.

There is one latching Ethernet LAN port under the Starlink Plug. Starlink notes that the Mini Starlink cable for wired use is not included and is sold on shop.starlink.com, and that the dish is no longer rated IP67 when a standard RJ45 cable is plugged in.

Heat, Dust, Wind and Mounting

Starlink rates the Starlink Mini Kit IP67 Type 4 with the DC power cable and the Starlink Plug installed, which means it is sealed against dust and protected against temporary immersion in water in that configuration. If either port is left open, that rating no longer applies.

The rated operating temperature is -30°C to 50°C. In the UAE, the upper limit matters: on the hottest summer days, inland air temperatures can come close to 50°C, so give the dish open air around it and do not lay it on a hot car roof without the kickstand.

Wind rating is 96 kph and above while operating, and the built-in snow melt handles up to 25 mm per hour, which matters more for travel abroad than for the Gulf. The field of view is 110°, so the dish needs a wide, clear view of the sky. Trees, walls and tall buildings in that view cause dropouts. The included pipe adapter and mounting plate let you attach the Starlink Mini Kit to a pole or a level surface instead of using the kickstand.

Starlink Mini Kit or Starlink Standard Kit?

Both kits connect to the same network, but they are built for different jobs. The Starlink Standard Kit has a larger 594 × 383 mm antenna weighing 2.9 kg, a separate Router 3 with tri-band WiFi 6 covering up to 297 m², two Ethernet ports, and an average draw of 75–100W from mains power.

The Starlink Mini Kit gives up some WiFi coverage and the separate router in return for a dish that weighs about a third as much, runs on 12–48V DC, and draws 25–40W on average. If the connection stays in one house or villa, the Standard kit is the better fit. If it moves with you, the Mini is the one to choose.

Who This Is Not For

Not for anyone expecting internet service in the box. The kit is hardware only, and the service plan is bought from Starlink separately.

Not for a large villa or office with many rooms. Coverage from the built-in WiFi 5 router is rated at up to 112 m²; larger spaces need mesh nodes or the Standard kit.

Not for sites without a clear view of the sky. With a 110° field of view, buildings, trees and covered parking will interrupt the signal.

Not for buyers who want to run it from a phone-sized USB-C charger. USB-C power needs at least 100W USB PD (20V/5A) and Starlink’s separate USB-C to barrel jack cable.

Not for wired setups out of the box. The Mini Starlink cable for the Ethernet port is not included.
