The Xiaomi Router AX3200 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router that Xiaomi rates at up to 3202Mbps when both bands run together: 800Mbps on 2.4GHz and 2402Mbps on 5GHz. Behind those figures sits a MediaTek Filogic 800 processor with 256MB of memory, a 4×4 configuration on the 5GHz band, OFDMA, MU-MIMO and beamforming, plus one gigabit WAN port and three gigabit LAN ports for wired devices.

What 3202Mbps Means on the Xiaomi Router AX3200
Xiaomi’s 3202Mbps is a theoretical maximum, and the company says so itself: it is the sum of 800Mbps on 2.4GHz and 2402Mbps on 5GHz used at the same time, and actual speeds vary with the environment. No single phone or laptop will ever see 3202Mbps. What the number tells you is how much total airtime the router can share between many devices.
The 5GHz band does the heavy lifting. Xiaomi lists it as 4×4 at 80MHz channel width, which is where the 2402Mbps figure comes from. A modern Wi-Fi 6 laptop or phone with two antennas will connect at a fraction of that, but the extra streams leave room for other devices at the same moment. The 2.4GHz band reaches further through walls and suits smart plugs, cameras and older gadgets.
Processor, Memory and Device Count
Xiaomi fits the Xiaomi Router AX3200 with a MediaTek Filogic 800 chip: a dual-core, quad-thread design with a single-core clock of up to 1.35GHz, paired with 256MB of memory. In a busy home this matters more than headline speed, because every connected device adds work for encryption, traffic scheduling and NAT.
Xiaomi states the router can connect up to 128 devices, and adds the condition that this is the combined total across 2.4GHz and 5GHz under laboratory conditions. A real apartment with thick concrete walls, neighbours’ networks and many video streams will reach its comfortable limit well before that, so treat 128 as a ceiling, not a target.
Wi-Fi 6 Features: OFDMA, MU-MIMO and Beamforming
OFDMA lets the Xiaomi Router AX3200 split one transmission into smaller pieces for several devices at once, which cuts waiting time when phones, TVs and smart-home gadgets all send small bursts of data. MU-MIMO serves more than one device in parallel through separate spatial streams, and beamforming focuses the signal towards connected devices rather than spreading it evenly.
All three only work fully with Wi-Fi 6 clients. Older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 devices still connect, because the router supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, but they will not gain the OFDMA efficiency.
Mesh Networking and Wired Ports
If one router does not reach every room, the Xiaomi Router AX3200 has a mesh networking button. Xiaomi lists mesh compatibility with another unit of the same model, the Mi Router AX9000 and the Xiaomi Mesh System AX3000 (1-pack or 2-pack), for up to 10 devices in total. That gives a path to grow coverage across a villa without replacing the main router.
On the back are one 10/100/1000Mbps WAN port for your fibre modem or ONT and three 10/100/1000Mbps LAN ports for a desktop PC, console or TV. Every port is gigabit, which covers most UAE home fibre plans. The firmware is MiWiFi ROM, based on OpenWRT, and Xiaomi supports cloud management through the Xiaomi Home / Mi Home app, plus IPv6 and IPTV.
Security
The router supports WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE encryption. Xiaomi notes that WPA3 needs end devices that support it, so a mixed household of new and older devices will usually run a WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode until the older devices are replaced.
Who This Is Not For
Skip the Xiaomi Router AX3200 if your internet plan is faster than 1Gbps: all four ports are gigabit, with no 2.5G or 10G port. It is dual-band only, so there is no 6GHz band and no Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. The 5GHz band runs at 80MHz, without 160MHz channels.
It is also a large router at 284 × 186 × 186 mm, so it needs shelf space rather than a small cabinet. Xiaomi rates operation from 0 to 40°C, so avoid closed cupboards, balconies or any spot that heats up in the UAE summer. Xiaomi’s global specification page does not list the power adapter’s rating or plug type.
