The GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX has Gigabit LAN, not 2.5GbE, and here is when that matters
GIGABYTE fits a Realtek Gigabit LAN chip to the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX, rated at 1 Gbps, 100 Mbps or 10 Mbps. Every other AM5 board on our shelf has 2.5GbE. This one does not, and it is the single specification that separates it most clearly from the boards a hundred dirhams above it.
When it does not matter: home internet. Etisalat and du fibre packages in the UAE top out at speeds a Gigabit port handles without breaking a sweat, and even on the fastest residential plan the bottleneck is the line, not the board. For browsing, streaming, gaming and downloads, Gigabit is plenty and you will never see the difference.
When it does matter: moving files across your own network. If you have a NAS, or you copy large video projects between two machines in the same building, 2.5GbE is two and a half times faster and you will feel it on every transfer. A 50 GB project folder takes about seven minutes on Gigabit and under three on 2.5GbE.
If that is your use case and you still want this board, a 2.5GbE PCIe card costs very little. Just note the caveat in the expansion slot section below before you plan on it.
PCIe on the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX: 5.0 for storage, 4.0 for graphics
This board splits PCIe generations in a way that is unusual and, for most buyers, sensible. The graphics slot runs PCIe 4.0 at x16 with Ryzen 9000 and 7000 processors, dropping to x8 or x4 with the 8000 series. The first M.2 slot runs PCIe 5.0 at x4.
That is the opposite of what people expect and it is the right way round. No graphics card currently sold is limited by PCIe 4.0 x16, so the graphics slot loses you nothing. Storage is where PCIe 5.0 actually delivers a measurable number, and the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX gives you that slot at the lowest price of any board we carry.
The other three expansion slots are all PCIe 3.0 running at a single lane. Three of them are physically x16 sockets, which means a card slides in and then runs on one lane of an older generation.
This is the caveat on adding a 2.5GbE network card. A single PCIe 3.0 lane carries roughly 985 MB/s, which is about 7.9 Gbps, so a 2.5GbE card works perfectly well in those slots. A 10GbE card would not. Neither would a second graphics card or a fast NVMe riser.

Three M.2 slots on the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX is more than the micro-ATX boards in this range offer, but read the widths before you plan your storage.
M2A_CPU comes off the processor at PCIe 5.0 x4 or x2 with Ryzen 9000 and 7000, dropping to PCIe 4.0 with the 8000 series. It takes 2280, 2580, 22110 and 25110 drives. This is the fast slot and it is the reason to buy this board.
M2P_CPU also comes off the processor, but at PCIe 4.0 x2. Two lanes, not four. That is roughly 3.9 GB/s rather than 7.8, so a modern PCIe 4.0 drive fitted there will run at about half its rated speed. It is not broken, it is half width, and GIGABYTE publishes it plainly while most listings do not.
M2C_SB comes off the chipset at PCIe 4.0 x4 or x2, and takes 22110 and 2280 drives.
So the honest plan for the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX is: boot drive in M2A_CPU, bulk storage in M2C_SB, and M2P_CPU for a third drive where speed is not the point. SATA is four ports at 6Gb/s.
Memory on the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX and a correction to our own listing
The GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX has four DDR5 slots, up to 256 GB with 64 GB per module, and support for both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP profiles.
GIGABYTE publishes speeds from 4800 all the way to 8000 MT/s. Our own product title previously said 7600 MHz. That was wrong in the direction of understating the board, and we have corrected it to 8000. We mention the correction rather than quietly editing it because a page that only ever tells you good news is not a page you can trust.
As on every AM5 board, read what the OC marker means. Only 4800 and 5200 sit inside the JEDEC specification. Everything from 5600 upward is an overclock that depends on the memory controller inside your individual processor and on the kit itself, and nobody guarantees it.
The practical answer is a two-stick DDR5-6000 kit with EXPO. That is the speed AM5 was tuned around, it is what reviewers benchmark, and it leaves two slots free. Filling all four slots always runs slower than two on this platform.
USB, wireless and video on the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX
Rear USB on the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX is two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A at 10 Gbps, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and six USB 2.0. Internally there are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C header and six USB 2.0 ports available through headers.
Note the Type-C carefully. On the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX it is USB 3.2 Gen 1, which is 5 Gbps. Not 10, and certainly not USB4 at 40. That is the slowest Type-C on any board in our range and it is the corner that was cut to reach this price. An external SSD on that port will run at roughly 450 MB/s rather than 900. The two rear Type-A ports are the 10 Gbps ones, so use those for fast external drives.
Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E across 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz with Bluetooth 5.3. GIGABYTE ships two different chips depending on PCB revision: Realtek RTL8852CE on revision 1.0, and Intel AX210 on revisions 1.1 and 1.2. The Intel part is generally the better of the two for driver support and stability. If it matters to you, message us before ordering and we will check the revision on the box.
Video output is one DisplayPort at up to 3840×2160 and 144 Hz, and one HDMI at up to 4096×2160 and 60 Hz. Two outputs from the integrated graphics, which covers a dual-monitor setup on a machine without a graphics card.
Audio is a Realtek High Definition codec with 2, 4, 5.1 and 7.1 channel output. GIGABYTE publishes no ALC part number for this board, so we do not print one.
Why a full-size ATX board at this price is worth something
The GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX is ATX at 30.5 by 24.4 cm, while most boards at this price are micro-ATX. That is not a specification anyone benchmarks and it changes the build in three practical ways.
Cooler clearance. A full-size board spaces the socket further from the top edge and from the memory slots, so large air coolers fit without fighting the RAM. On a cramped micro-ATX board, tall memory heatsinks and a big cooler are a real conflict.
Airflow and heat. The same components spread across a larger board with more distance between the VRM, the chipset and the M.2 slots simply run cooler, before any heatsink is involved.
Cable routing. ATX cases are built around ATX boards. The headers land where the cutouts are, and the build is tidier for it.
What you do not get is more expansion. Three of the four slots are PCIe 3.0 x1, so the extra board area is about comfort rather than capability. That is still worth having if your case is a standard ATX tower.
Who the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX is not for
Not for anyone who needs 2.5GbE. The LAN port is Gigabit. A 2.5GbE card in one of the x1 slots is a workable fix, but if you want it on the board, every other AM5 option we carry has it, starting with the GIGABYTE B850M Eagle WIFI6E ICE.
Not for a fast Type-C device. The rear Type-C is USB 3.2 Gen 1 at 5 Gbps. Use the 10 Gbps Type-A ports instead, or buy a board with a faster Type-C.
Not for USB4 at 40 Gbps, which requires an X870 board.
Not for Wi-Fi 7. This is Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3.
Not for three full-speed NVMe drives. Only M2A_CPU is PCIe 5.0 x4. M2P_CPU is PCIe 4.0 at x2, which is half bandwidth.
Not for a second graphics card, a 10GbE card or a fast NVMe riser. Three of the four expansion slots are PCIe 3.0 x1.
Not for a large SATA array. The GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX has four SATA ports.
And not for a small case. The GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX is full ATX and needs a case that takes an ATX board.

Does the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX have 2.5GbE?
No. The wired network port is Realtek Gigabit at 1 Gbps. It is the only AM5 board we carry without 2.5GbE. For home internet that makes no difference. For moving large files to a NAS on your own network it does, and a 2.5GbE card in one of the x1 slots is the fix.
Is the graphics slot on the GIGABYTE B650 Eagle AX PCIe 5.0?
