Put the disc in a Series X and the newer version installs; put it in an Xbox One and you get the Xbox One version. If you upgrade from Xbox One to Series X during the season, the same disc carries over.
As printed on the cover, the game requires a content download, so the console needs to be online for the first install.
Series S and all-digital Xbox: no drive, no disc
Xbox Series S has no disc drive, and the all-digital Xbox Series X does not either. Neither can install the FC 27 Xbox English disc; owners of those consoles need the digital version from the Microsoft Store. This is worth checking before you order.

The difference EA states is The Grounds. The Grounds mode, including Clubs, is only on the Xbox Series X|S version, so Clubs players need to play this disc on a Series X. On a Series X, The Grounds is the new social space EA describes as a playground where the streets meet the stadium. Your club plays its league and playoff games from the Clubhouse, and between them you can join street matches up to 3v3, Ranked Rush and 11v11 Drop-In games. EA does not publish a language list for this retail box; Microsoft counts 21 supported languages for the game, and EA’s list includes English and Arabic among them.
