Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 is the complete package CD PROJEKT RED released on 5 December 2023: the base game, its spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty, and every update ever released for both, including the large Update 2.0. CD PROJEKT RED called it the first physical edition of Cyberpunk 2077 for the current console generation. Before buying, it helps to know exactly what is on the disc and what arrives as a download, so that is covered first.

What Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 Includes
CD PROJEKT RED describes the Ultimate Edition as the full story of a mercenary named V, combining Cyberpunk 2077 with Phantom Liberty and every update to them ever released. PlayStation Store words it the same way: every gameplay update and all previously released content in one package, including Phantom Liberty.
In practice Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 means three things: the base campaign set in Night City, the Phantom Liberty campaign set in the new district of Dogtown, and the free Update 2.0 rework of the game’s core systems.
On the Disc and as a Download Code
The PlayStation 5 box shown here carries a printed note that it includes the PSN download code for Phantom Liberty. So the base game installs from the disc, while the expansion is redeemed on PlayStation Store with the code in the box and then downloaded. You will need a PSN account and an internet connection for that step, and for the latest patches.
Like any PlayStation Store voucher, the code can be redeemed once. That matters if you plan to resell the disc later: the next owner gets the base game, but not the expansion once the code has been redeemed.
Phantom Liberty and Dogtown
Phantom Liberty, the expansion inside Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5, is a new story campaign rather than a handful of side missions. PlayStation describes it as a chance to embark on a new story, explore the dangerous new area of Dogtown, and master new gear and abilities. CD PROJEKT RED calls it a spy thriller, and it plugs into the main story rather than replacing it.
Update 2.0: A Reworked Game
Anyone who tried Cyberpunk 2077 at launch should know that the game in this box plays differently. According to CD PROJEKT RED, the free Update 2.0 overhauled many of the game’s systems, introducing dynamic skill trees, vehicle combat, and enhanced enemy and police AI, as well as new weapons, vehicles and clothes. All of that is part of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5.
PS5 Features
PlayStation lists 4K visuals with dynamic 4K resolution scaling, ray tracing for improved lighting and shadows, 3D audio, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller, and the PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD for faster loading. The game is single-player only, and Remote Play is supported.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 is a PS5-only product. PlayStation Store notes that the Ultimate Edition is only playable on PlayStation 5 because it contains content not available on PS4, and the PS4 version received its final patch on 8 November 2022.
Languages and Age Rating
Language options for Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 depend on the regional version. For the UAE digital version, PlayStation lists Arabic among the screen languages, with English, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil) and Russian voices. CD PROJEKT RED does not publish a language list for each boxed disc, and the box pictured here is a European (PEGI) release, so the disc’s languages may differ from the UAE store listing.
The game is for adults: the pictured box is rated PEGI 18, and PlayStation’s UAE page lists a 21+ rating. It contains strong violence, nudity, strong language and drug use.
Who This Is Not For
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 is not a game for children or teenagers, and there is no multiplayer of any kind. It will not play on a PS4.
If you want everything on the disc for offline play, note that Phantom Liberty is a download code on PS5, not stored on the disc, and redeeming it needs an internet connection. And if you already own the base game digitally, buying the Phantom Liberty expansion on its own may make more sense than a second copy of the base game.
