The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo is the entry kit for DJI’s newest action camera. Inside the box is the Osmo Action 6 itself, one Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus (1950 mAh), a quick-release adapter mount, a curved adhesive base, a locking screw, an anti-slip pad and a USB-C to USB-C cable. The camera is built around a 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensor and, for the first time on a DJI action camera, a variable aperture from f/2.0 to f/4.0. It records 4K at up to 120fps, goes 20 m underwater without a housing and has 50 GB of usable built-in storage.

A square sensor and a real aperture
Most action cameras use a small sensor behind a fixed aperture, so exposure is handled only by shutter speed and ISO. The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo changes that with a 1/1.1-inch square sensor and an aperture that moves from f/2.0 to f/4.0. Open at f/2.0, the lens gathers more light for evening rides, indoor shots and dim streets; DJI says image quality in low light is noticeably better. Stopped down towards f/4.0, more of the scene stays sharp and bright light is easier to control. DJI also notes that the closest focus distance is 0.2 m at f/4.0, and with the optional Macro Lens it can shoot close-ups of food or pets.
Video modes, resolution and colour
The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo records 8K at 24, 25 or 30fps in 16:9, and 4K at up to 120fps in 4:3, 16:9 or 9:16. Slow motion runs at 4x in 4K and 2.7K, and at 8x in 1080p at 240fps. Because the sensor is square, the 4:3 and 9:16 options are handy when the same clip has to work as a landscape video and as a vertical reel. Photos from the DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo reach 7168 x 5376 pixels, about 38 MP per single shot. For colour grading, DJI lists D-Log M support and notes that maximum ISO is limited to 6400 when shooting 8K in D-Log M.
Stabilisation and horizon control
Stabilisation on the DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo is electronic, with RockSteady 3.0, RockSteady 3.0+, HorizonBalancing and HorizonSteady available depending on the mode. RockSteady handles vibration from running, cycling or a car mount, while the horizon modes keep the line level when the camera tilts. DJI states that electronic stabilisation is not available in slow-motion and timelapse modes, so plan those shots on a steady mount. The 155 degree field of view gives the wide look expected from an action camera, and the screens make it easy to check framing before you press record.
Two touchscreens, storage and wireless audio
On the back is a 2.5-inch touchscreen (400 x 712), and on the front a 1.46-inch square screen (342 x 342) for framing yourself while vlogging. The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo has 64 GB of built-in storage, of which about 50 GB is usable, and a microSD slot for cards up to 1 TB, so a forgotten card does not end the day. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 handle transfers to the phone app. Three built-in microphones record at 48 kHz, and through OsmoAudio a compatible DJI Mic transmitter can connect directly to the camera without a separate receiver.
Battery, cold and water
The included Extreme Battery Plus holds 1950 mAh (7.5 Wh). DJI quotes up to 240 minutes of recording, measured at 25 degrees C at 1080p/24fps with RockSteady on, Wi-Fi off and screens off; at 4K or high frame rates the runtime is shorter. The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo works from -20 to 45 degrees C, so a cold mountain trip or a hot UAE beach day is within its rated range, although long recording in direct summer sun can still make it warm. The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo is waterproof to 20 m on its own and rated IP68; for dives down to 60 m you need DJI’s separate Waterproof Case, which is not part of the Standard Combo.
Who This Is Not For
The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo is not for buyers who want a full accessory kit: it includes only one battery, no extension rod, no multifunction battery case and no waterproof case for dives beyond 20 m. Electronic stabilisation does not work in slow motion or timelapse, and it is still an action camera, not a mechanical gimbal, so very fast pans do not look as smooth as on an Osmo Pocket. The three-microphone audio is fine for ambient sound but voices from a distance need a wireless microphone.
