The Figure: Samus in Her Metroid Dread Suit
The sculpt catches Samus low and mid-stride with her arm cannon pushed forward, in the blue, white and red Power Suit design from Metroid Dread. It is a different figure from the Samus in the Super Smash Bros. series, which uses her older suit, so collectors who sort by game will want this one for the Dread shelf.
Our photos show the Japanese retail box, printed with METROID DREAD and SAMUS in English and サムス in Japanese. Like every amiibo, the Metroid Dread Samus figure has an NFC chip in the base.
What the Metroid Dread Samus amiibo Does in the Game
Nintendo Japan describes two separate bonuses. The first time you scan the Metroid Dread Samus figure, you receive one Energy Tank, and Nintendo UK describes it as a permanent bonus. After that, you can scan it once per day to restore a random amount of Samus’s life energy.
That first Energy Tank is a one-off: scanning again the same day or the next day does not stack more tanks. The daily refill is the part you keep using, which helps most in the tense E.M.M.I. zones and boss fights where one more bar of energy decides the run.
Samus Alone, or the Double Set with E.M.M.I.?
The E.M.M.I. amiibo is the other half of the Metroid Dread pair. Nintendo Japan says it gives one Missile+ Tank on the first scan and a random missile refill once per day. It is not in this box; this listing is the Samus figure alone.
Other Metroid amiibo also work in Metroid Dread, but with smaller rewards. Nintendo Japan lists Samus Aran, Samus and Zero Suit Samus as restoring a random amount of energy once per day, and Metroid, Ridley and Dark Samus as restoring missiles. Only the two Metroid Dread figures add a permanent tank.

Nintendo UK’s list for the Metroid Dread Samus figure also covers The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (weapons and materials), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (a power-up on a course), Donkey Kong Bananza (a giant sphere of random material), Kirby and the Forgotten Land (coins and items), Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Fire Emblem Engage and Mega Man 11 (helpful items).

Who This Is Not For
Experienced Metroid players who want the game at its hardest may not want the extra Energy Tank. And if you hoped to train a Smash Bros. fighter, Nintendo does not list this figure for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The figure has a fixed pose and is not articulated. Collectors who want Western packaging should note that our box is Japanese, and anyone after the Missile+ Tank needs the E.M.M.I. figure as well.
