What the Ghost of Yotei Face Plates Look Like
PlayStation describes the covers as featuring the majestic Mount Yōtei in raised golden lines. The gold line work is raised from the surface rather than printed flat, so it catches light differently as you move around the console.
The design comes from Sucker Punch. Creative director Jason Connell explained on the PlayStation Blog that the limited edition hardware uses the hand-drawn icons Atsu marks on her map, a kintsugi-style effect taken from her Ghost mask, and brushstrokes that recall her Sumi-e paintings, with Mount Yōtei anchoring the console. Kintsugi is the Japanese craft of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and gold, and Sony says the Ghost of Yotei Face Plates carry the same kintsugi-inspired designs and maker’s seal as the Gold Limited Edition bundle console.
Which PS5 the Ghost of Yotei Face Plates Fit
This is the detail to check before ordering. PlayStation lists these covers for the PS5 slim model group: the CFI-2000 model group and CFI-2100, in both the standard version with a disc drive and the Digital Edition. The model number is printed on your console’s label.
They do not fit the original launch PS5, which is a larger console with a different cover shape, and they do not fit the PS5 Pro. Sony makes a separate Gold Limited Edition cover set for the Pro. Ghost of Yotei Face Plates or the Full Bundle?
Sony launched two ways to get this look. The Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition bundle includes a limited edition PS5 with a disc drive, a matching DualSense controller and a digital copy of the game. The Ghost of Yotei Face Plates are the covers on their own.
If you already own a PS5 Slim, the covers are the sensible route: you get the same limited edition panels and keep the console, storage and saves you already have. The matching Gold Limited Edition DualSense, with Atsu’s silhouette on the touchpad, is sold separately, as is the Black Limited Edition controller inspired by Sumi-e ink painting.
Keeping the Gold Detail Clean
Raised line work collects dust along its edges more than a smooth cover does. Dust the panels with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, and avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the console. Because these covers were made in limited quantities, it is worth treating them carefully if you plan to keep them as a collectible.
Who This Is Not For
Owners of the original launch PS5 or of the PS5 Pro: this set fits the slim model group only.
Anyone looking for a sticker skin. These are hard replacement covers that swap out the console’s own panels, not a vinyl wrap applied on top.
And anyone expecting a bundle: the box contains no game, no controller and no stand.
