The School Girl Zombie Hunter PS4 disc is a third-person action shooter set in the Onechanbara universe, developed by Tamsoft under D3 Publisher’s licence and published in the West by Aksys Games. The PlayStation Store lists its release as 17 November 2017. The genre combines shooting and action: five students trapped at Kirisaku High School must survive a seemingly endless wave of zombies. The game carries a PEGI 16 and ESRB Mature rating, uses Japanese voices with English on-screen text, and leans heavily into fan-service humour.

Trapped at Kirisaku High
The official PlayStation Store description sets the game at Kirisaku High School, a school known for balancing sports and academics. When a zombie outbreak hits, five students are cut off from the outside world and left to fend for themselves against an apparently endless horde of the undead. Their goal is to find the source of the infestation and end the crisis for good. The official description sums up their approach with tongue firmly in cheek: they annihilate the zombies with overpowering weaponry and fashionable undergarments. The setting connects to the Onechanbara series, known for its over-the-top zombie action, so expect a light, exaggerated tone rather than serious survival horror. The story is told mainly to set up the action, and the five heroines and their school form the backdrop for each fight.
Guns, Bats and Torn Uniforms
School Girl/Zombie Hunter is a third-person shooter. According to the ESRB rating summary, you protect a group of high-school girls from a zombie outbreak using guns and shotguns, along with melee items such as baseball bats and wooden swords. Combat is gory, with heavy blood splatter, explosions and zombies losing limbs or heads. The ESRB also notes that the girls’ uniforms can be torn during battle, exposing underwear, and that certain skills are unlocked by having characters undress and shower, with brief partial nudity. That mix of zombie shooting and fan service is the core of the game’s identity. The PlayStation Store also offers many optional outfit add-ons, such as Onechanbara Kagura costumes and lingerie sets, which are sold separately and are not included on the disc.
Single-Player Action and Online Notes
The game is built for 1 player offline. The PlayStation Store listing also marks online play as optional and requiring PlayStation Plus, and lists 2 to 5 network players, but neither Sony nor Aksys describes what those online features include. The ESRB notes that online interactions are not rated. DUALSHOCK 4 vibration is supported. The PlayStation Store lists outfits as optional paid add-ons. If you are buying for the story and the zombie action, plan on a solo experience: the core campaign at Kirisaku High is designed around one player, and no split-screen or local co-op mode is listed.
Retail Disc, Region and PS5
You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of School Girl/Zombie Hunter for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4 console. The PlayStation Store notes the game is playable on PS5, though some PS4 features may be absent; you need a PS5 with a disc drive. Who This Is Not For
This game is not for children or anyone uncomfortable with sexualised content: it is rated PEGI 16 and ESRB Mature for blood and gore, partial nudity, suggestive themes, language and violence. Voices are Japanese only, so you must read English subtitles. It is a modest-budget 2017 release, and costumes shown in promotions are often separate paid add-ons.
