The Eternal Cylinder PS4 disc is a surreal survival adventure from Chilean developer ACE Team and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment. It launched on PS4 on 30 September 2021, and Good Shepherd announced the physical PS4 edition for 19 November of that year. You control a herd of small creatures called Trebhums on an alien planet, evolving them to escape The Cylinder, a gigantic rolling structure that crushes everything in its path. The genre is single-player adventure with survival, exploration and puzzle elements.
Eternal Cylinder PS4: Table of Contents
Running From a World-Crushing Cylinder
The Eternal Cylinder opens on a strange, dangerous planet. A colossal structure of ancient origin, The Cylinder, rolls endlessly across the land, crushing everything before it. You play as a Trebhum, a small and vulnerable creature, and you must lead your family to survive and ultimately stop The Cylinder. According to the PlayStation Store, the journey crosses four distinct biomes and leads to puzzle-protected sanctuaries that hold ancient knowledge about the world. Along the way you meet monstrous servants that consume the planet and predators that hunt your herd. Good Shepherd describes exotic landscapes and a world that is destroyed in real time as The Cylinder advances. The tone is weird and dreamlike, with alien wildlife and colours that set it apart from typical survival games.
Eat, Mutate and Keep Moving
The core loop is survival through evolution. According to Good Shepherd, Trebhums start weak, but they can eat flora and fauna to mutate, and these mutations stack to create many combinations of abilities and body shapes. The PlayStation Store counts more than 50 mutations to customise your Trebhum. Some mutations help you move faster, others let you reach new areas or deal with threats, and combining them is the key to solving organic exploration puzzles. You also grow your herd, so you manage several creatures at once rather than a single hero. Meanwhile The Cylinder keeps rolling, which pushes you forward and adds constant pressure. Deadly predators roam each biome, so you must balance exploring for food and mutations against the need to stay ahead of the destruction.
Single-Player Adventure
The Eternal Cylinder is a single-player game; the PlayStation Store lists 1 player with offline play enabled, and it does not mention online or co-op modes. On PS4 the voices are in English, and on-screen text is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, according to the PlayStation Store. There is no split-screen or PS VR support. The game does not depend on online servers, so it plays fully offline from the disc. Progress is saved locally, so you can play at your own pace.
Retail Disc, Region and PS5
You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of The Eternal Cylinder for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4. The PlayStation Store says PS4 disc owners can insert the disc into a PS5 with a disc drive to get the PS5 digital version at no extra cost. Good Shepherd’s launch news says physical PS4 editions include a 28-page Survivor’s Handbook. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
The Eternal Cylinder is strange by design, so players who want a realistic survival game may find it confusing. There is no multiplayer or co-op. The constant pressure from The Cylinder can feel stressful if you prefer slow exploration. It is rated 12+ for moderate violence. Voices are English only, and Arabic is not among the listed text languages.
