The The Catch Carp & Coarse PS4 disc is a fishing simulation developed and published by Dovetail Games. The PlayStation Store lists its release as 29 June 2020. The genre is simulation and sport, built around hunting big fish rather than casual catching. You choose your spot by time of day and weather, set up your tackle, and read the water flow to land some of the 125 legendary Boss Fish spread across five destinations, according to the official store description.
The Catch Carp & Coarse PS4: Table of Contents
The Hunt for Monster-Sized Fish
The Catch has no story campaign; the goal is the fish itself. The PlayStation Store describes it as a species-hunting game in which you pursue monster-sized fish across 5 unique destinations. There are 35 different species of fish to find, and 125 legendary Boss Fish waiting for the most patient and skilled anglers. Success depends on preparation. Before you cast, you pick your spot based on the time of day and the weather, then set up your equipment to suit the target. Dovetail also highlights advanced water flow, so reading the water becomes part of the challenge. An in-game mastery system tests you further as you progress. The appeal is the slow build-up of knowledge, where each session teaches you a little more about where the biggest fish are hiding.
Licensed Tackle and Real Technique
Gameplay centres on careful preparation and patient play. Dovetail promises hundreds of items of equipment from more than 20 licensed partners, so you can build setups that match the species you are hunting and the conditions on the water. Choosing the right bait, rig and location matters more than fast reactions. The store lists Simulation and Sport as the genres, which reflects the focus on realistic technique rather than arcade fishing. Each destination has its own fish population, and the boss fish give long-term goals for players who enjoy chasing a specific trophy catch. Progress comes from learning: when fish feed, how the weather changes your chances, and which equipment gives you the edge. For carp and coarse anglers, it offers a way to practise ideas from the bank on PS4.
Solo Fishing, Multiplayer and Events
You can play The Catch alone, and the PlayStation Store lists it as a 1-player game with optional online play. Online, it supports up to 4 players, and PlayStation Plus is required for online play on PS4. Dovetail mentions multiplayer and events to feed your competitive streak. The store lists optional in-game purchases, and add-ons such as extra venues and equipment packs are sold separately. The PS4 version has English voice and on-screen text in English, French, German, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. There is no split-screen.
Retail Disc, Region and PS5
You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of The Catch: Carp & Coarse for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4 console. The PlayStation Store lists the game as playable on PS5, noting that some PS4 features may be absent, so a PS5 with a disc drive can run it. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
This is a patient simulation, so players who want quick arcade fishing or action may find it slow. Online multiplayer and events need PlayStation Plus, and they depend on Dovetail keeping its online services running. Extra venues and equipment packs cost extra. There is no split-screen, and Arabic is not among the listed languages. The focus is freshwater carp and coarse fishing, not sea or fly fishing.
