Desperados 3: A Prequel Led by John Cooper
PlayStation describes the setup simply: in this prequel to the classic Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, John Cooper joins forces with the runaway bride Kate, the shady hitman Doc McCoy, the giant trapper Hector and Isabelle, a mysterious woman from New Orleans.
THQ Nordic calls Desperados 3 story-driven and hardcore, and the combination matters. Each mission is a puzzle of guards, sightlines and timing, wrapped in a Western story that moves you from one tense location to the next.
Five Characters, Five Toolkits
Every member of the gang plays differently. Cooper, a drifter, gunslinger and natural leader, can kill quietly with a knife or take out multiple foes with his revolvers. Strongman Hector carries a giant bear trap and handles the toughest opponents with his trusty axe.
Doc McCoy is a cold-blooded bounty hunter who works methodically with lures, knockout gas, poison syringes and a custom long-range pistol. Kate can fool almost any man with the right outfit and kills discreetly with her hidden gun, and Isabelle completes the team. THQ Nordic’s advice is to combine the team’s special skills to beat each challenge in your own style.
Showdown Mode and Difficulty
The Showdown mode lets you pause Desperados 3 at any time to react to ambushes or surprise attacks, then line up your characters’ actions before releasing them. It is the feature that turns a bad situation into a planned escape.
You can adjust the game to your playstyle with several difficulty settings and special replay challenges. THQ Nordic also released Baron’s Challenges as free updates, while Money for the Vultures is a separate three-part DLC series.
Languages and Rating
Desperados 3 is a single-player game. PlayStation lists voice acting in English, German, Russian and Chinese, and on-screen text in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Korean and Simplified Chinese; Arabic is not supported.
The case carries a PEGI 18 rating, and PlayStation’s UAE page lists the same rating for language and violence.
Who This Is Not For
Desperados 3 rewards patience, careful scouting and repeated attempts, so it does not suit players who want fast action or open-world freedom. There is no multiplayer or co-op.
