Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition PS5 – City-Building Survival Strategy with New London Pop-Up Diorama

Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition is the physical PlayStation 5 release of 11 bit studios’ city-building survival game, produced with Skybound Games. Alongside the full game on disc, it includes a pop-up diorama of New London, a digital novella titled Warm Flesh and a behind-the-scenes digital artbook. Frostpunk 2 arrived on PS5 on 18 September 2025.

What Is in the Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition

11 bit studios lists four things in the Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition: the full game on disc, a meticulously crafted pop-up diorama of New London, the digital novella Warm Flesh and a behind-the-scenes digital artbook. The front of the case confirms the diorama, artbook and novella under an Includes label.

It is the entry physical edition. The larger Whiteout Edition adds an LED-lit shadow box, a Deluxe Edition upgrade with three planned DLCs, a keychain, postcards, stickers and a faction patch; none of those come with the Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition. The digital Deluxe Edition’s DLC, Captain’s Hall item and soundtrack are also separate purchases.

The Frost Never Ends: Story and Setting

Frostpunk 2 takes place 30 years after the apocalyptic blizzard of the first Frostpunk. Earth is still buried under neverending frost, and you lead a resource-hungry metropolis where expansion and internal conflict are unavoidable. PlayStation’s description puts it simply: you face a new deadly threat to your city’s future, human nature.

The developers describe it as still a game about the City and its society, but with inner turmoil driven by rising social differences. The cold remains dangerous, yet the larger risk now comes from the people you govern.

Districts, the Council and Factions

Instead of placing single buildings, you build entire districts with different purposes, such as industrial or scientific, and make sure all of them work together as one giant machine. As the city grows, the population splits into factions with different and often contradictory visions of the future.

Those visions meet in the Council building, where the city’s laws are forged and where ideas clash, sometimes violently. As the Steward, your job is to pass laws and steer the factions so that the city does not fall apart because of those conflicts. That political layer is what sets Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition apart from a pure builder.

Built for a Controller on PS5

11 bit studios reworked the interface for consoles with a circular layout for controllers: bumper buttons cycle between districts, and a radial menu appears over resource piles. The PS5 version supports the DualSense vibration function and trigger effects, and PlayStation lists 13 accessibility features, including adjustable difficulty, game speed controls and manual saving.

Frostpunk 2 is single-player and can be played offline. Voice acting is in English and Chinese, and on-screen text covers 14 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Turkish and Japanese; Arabic is not among them.

Who This Is Not For

Frostpunk 2 Icebreaker Edition is a slow, demanding strategy game about hard political choices, so it does not suit players who want action or a relaxed city builder. There is no multiplayer, and with no Arabic text option, players need to be comfortable reading English or another supported language.

It is rated PEGI 16 on the case and 16+ on PlayStation’s UAE page for strong language and strong violence. Anyone who wants the DLC should know it is not included in this edition.
