The Bound by Flame PS4 disc is a dark fantasy action RPG from French developer Spiders, published by Focus Home Interactive (now Focus Entertainment). According to PlayStation Blog, it arrived on the PlayStation Store on 6 May 2014 and in retail stores on 9 May 2014. You play Vulcan, a mercenary whose body becomes host to a flame demon, in a land frozen by seven Ice Lords and their Dead-Army. The genre mixes real-time combat with role-playing choices, character builds, companions and equipment crafting, all in a single-player campaign.

A Mercenary With a Demon Inside
Bound by Flame is set in Vertiel, a dark fantasy world where seven Ice Lords rule and an endless winter holds the land. You are Vulcan, a mercenary of the Pure Blades. During a ritual performed by a group of priests, a spell goes wrong and a Flame Demon takes up residence in your body. From that moment, the story is shaped by one question: will you let the demon guide you, or will you dominate its will and keep your humanity? Spiders explains on PlayStation Blog that this relationship changes both the story and the way you play. Focus describes the choice simply: suppress your inner demon or unleash its power. Using that power has a price, because the publisher says it costs part of your soul, so every decision carries weight across the campaign.
Three Skill Trees and Real-Time Combat
Combat runs in real time and, according to Focus, depends on tactics and reaction. You shape Vulcan with three skill trees. The Fighter tree focuses on heavy weapons, the Ranger tree on dual daggers and stealthy play, and the Pyromancer tree on flame spells drawn from the demon. Spiders notes that leaning on the demon raises mana regeneration and opens fire magic, while staying human unlocks heroic abilities. Along the way you meet companions who can join your group and fight with you. You can befriend or romance some of them, but the developer warns that some will turn against you if your actions clash with their ethics. Ingredients taken from defeated enemies or found around Vertiel let you craft and customise equipment, which also changes how you fight.
Single-Player Campaign, No Online
Bound by Flame is a single-player game. The PlayStation Store lists it for 1 player and shows no online multiplayer, so you do not need PlayStation Plus to enjoy the full campaign. Remote Play and DUALSHOCK 4 vibration are supported on PS4, as listed by the store. On the PS4 version, the store lists English and German voices, with on-screen text in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. There is no co-op, no split-screen and no PS VR support. Replay value comes from trying different skill trees and making different choices about the demon.
Retail Disc, Region and PS5
You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of Bound by Flame for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4 console. The PlayStation Store lists the game as playable on PS5, noting that some PS4 features may be absent, so a PS5 with a disc drive can run it. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
Bound by Flame is a 2014 game, and its graphics and animations show their age next to modern PS4 and PS5 RPGs. It is a mid-sized action RPG, not a huge open world. There is no multiplayer of any kind. Arabic is not among the listed languages, and voice acting is only in English or German. The PEGI 16 rating, for violence and bad language, makes it unsuitable for younger players.
