The Dreams PS4 disc brings you the creative game universe from developer Media Molecule, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Dreams launched on PS4 on 14 February 2020. Sony lists its genres as unique, adventure and action, but it is really three things in one: a library of games made by other players, a story campaign called Art’s Dream, and a full toolset for making your own games, music, art and animation. It supports 1 to 4 players and optional PS VR play.

Art’s Dream and a World of Player Creations
Dreams has a story of its own. Art’s Dream is a campaign made by Media Molecule that follows Art, a musician, through a dream world that shifts between styles and types of play. It acts as a showcase of what the engine can do, moving between platforming, puzzles and point-and-click moments. Beyond that, the stories in Dreams come from its community. In Dream Surfing you browse games, short films, music and art that other players have built and shared, from small experiments to long adventures. Sony describes Dreams as an extraordinary, ever-expanding game universe, and the variety is the main draw: one evening you can play a racing game, the next a horror short and the next a relaxing music piece, all made inside the same game.

Dream Shaping: Make Your Own Games
The creative side is called Dream Shaping. Media Molecule includes tutorials that teach you how to sculpt objects, paint scenes, animate characters, compose music and add logic, step by step, using the DUALSHOCK 4 controller. You can also create with PlayStation Move motion controllers, and Sony lists support for two Move controllers. Everything you build can be shared with the community, and you can remix the work of others when the creator allows it. The tools are deep enough for full games yet approachable for a first sculpture or a short tune. You do not need to create anything to enjoy Dreams, though: many players simply play. The PS4 version also offers on-screen text in Arabic, alongside English and several European languages, which makes the tutorials easier to follow for Arabic speakers.
Players, PS VR and Online
Sony lists Dreams for 1 to 4 players, and online play is optional. The game is PS VR headset enabled: PS VR content needs a PlayStation VR headset and the PlayStation Camera. Media Molecule ended live service support after 1 September 2023. Its official notice says players can keep playing, creating and sharing, but there are no new features, community jams have stopped and some social tools were removed. Media Molecule also states that PS5 and PS VR2 versions are not planned.

PAL Disc, Region and PS5
You receive a new, factory-sealed PAL (R2) disc of Dreams for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4. The PlayStation website says Dreams is playable on PS5 through backward compatibility, though some PS4 features may be absent, and PS VR2 is not supported. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
If you want one long, polished blockbuster, Dreams may disappoint: much of its content is made by players and quality varies. Live support ended in September 2023, so no new features or community jams are coming. Creating takes patience and many hours of practice. VR needs the original PS VR headset and Camera, and there is no native PS5 or PS VR2 version.
