Disney Classic Games Collection PS4 – Aladdin, The Lion King & The Jungle Book, Rewind, Museum Extras, 1080p Filters – US R1 Disc

The Disney Classic Games Collection PS4 disc gathers three Disney platformers from the 16-bit era: Aladdin, The Lion King and The Jungle Book. Developer Digital Eclipse first released Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King on PS4 on 29 October 2019, and the Collection adds The Jungle Book and more Aladdin content; Digital Eclipse dates the Collection to 2021, while the US PlayStation Store lists the PS4 Collection from 24 February 2022. The genre is classic side-scrolling platform action, rebuilt with modern conveniences such as rewind, quick saves and display filters.

Three Disney Films, Three Classic Adventures

Each game follows the film it is based on. In Aladdin you play the street rat of Agrabah, running across rooftops, markets and the Cave of Wonders with a sword and a supply of apples. The Lion King lets you guide Simba from playful cub to adult king, with stages that echo scenes and music from the film. The Jungle Book puts you in the role of Mowgli as he swings and jumps through the jungle. The PlayStation Store says the Collection includes both 16-bit console versions of Aladdin, and Digital Eclipse describes it as all 16-bit versions of the three games in one package. The soundtracks are included in a music player, with 16-bit versions of songs such as A Whole New World, I Just Can’t Wait to Be King and The Bare Necessities.

Classic Platforming With Modern Help

The gameplay is pure 1990s side-scrolling action: run, jump, climb and attack enemies such as guards, birds, snakes and monkeys, as the ESRB summary describes. Digital Eclipse added tools that make these tough games friendlier. Real-time rewind lets you undo a mistake instantly, and you can save at any point and continue later. The Interactive Game Viewer plays full runs of each game, and you can jump in and take control at any moment. According to the PlayStation Blog, the 2019 release also offers level skips and invulnerability. Display options include 1080p output, adjustable aspect ratios and borders, and filters that mimic old CRT televisions. Digital Eclipse also built a Final Cut of the Genesis Aladdin with bug fixes, cut content and other changes.

Versions, Museum and Players

This is a single-player collection; the PlayStation Store lists 1 player and no online features. Each game comes in several versions. The PlayStation Blog lists Genesis, Japanese Mega Drive, Game Boy and Colorized Game Boy versions of Aladdin, and SNES, Genesis, Japanese Mega Drive, Game Boy and Colorized Game Boy versions of The Lion King, while the Collection adds the SNES Aladdin and The Jungle Book. The museum section holds video interviews with the original teams and galleries of concept art and marketing material.

US R1 Disc, Region and PS5

You receive a new, factory-sealed US (R1, NTSC) retail disc of Disney Classic Games Collection for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4 console in the UAE. The PlayStation Store states that the game is playable on PS5, although some PS4 features may be missing; a PS5 needs a disc drive to use this disc. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.

Who This Is Not For

These are faithful 1990s games, so the pixel graphics and difficulty feel old-fashioned, even with rewind. There is no multiplayer of any kind, local or online. The disc is a US edition, so the cover carries an ESRB rating rather than PEGI. Players who already own Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King and bought The Jungle Book pack digitally will get little new content here.
