Amazon runs this stick on what it calls the newest Fire TV experience (2026): a redesigned home screen with dedicated content categories and room to pin up to three times more apps than before. Full HD Picture, HDR10+ and Dolby Audio Pass-Through

Output is 1080p or 720p at up to 60 fps, and the supported video formats are HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, H.265, H.264, VP9 and AV1. HDR only appears when the film or series is mastered in HDR and the TV itself supports that format; on a standard Full HD panel you see the normal picture. Dolby Vision is not on the list for the Fire TV Stick HD; Amazon reserves it for the 4K Plus, 4K Max and Cube.

For sound, the stick passes Dolby-encoded audio (AC-3, E-AC-3 and E-AC3 JOC) through HDMI to the TV, soundbar or receiver, which does the decoding. Amazon lists Dolby Atmos for its 4K Plus, 4K Max and Cube models, while the Fire TV Stick HD is listed with Dolby-encoded pass-through only.

Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and 8GB of Storage

Inside is a quad-core 1.7GHz processor with 8GB of internal storage. Wi-Fi 6 runs on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), which helps keep video loading quickly on a busy home network when the router supports Wi-Fi 6 as well. There is no Ethernet port, and the USB-C socket is for power only.

A wall adapter is not included in the box, and Amazon sells a longer 1.5 m cable separately.

The slim body measures 91.5 × 21.1 × 14.5 mm and is designed so it does not block the neighbouring HDMI ports. Pick by the television. The Fire TV Stick HD is built for 1080p and 720p screens, which Amazon describes as typically under 50 inches. For a 4K TV, the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max adds 4K output, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, 16GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6E and the Alexa Voice Remote Enhanced.

If the HD model goes on a 4K TV, the TV upscales the 1080p signal, so you will not see native 4K detail. On a Full HD set, the 4K Max gives no sharper picture than the Fire TV Stick HD, and the money is better spent elsewhere.

Who This Is Not For

Skip the Fire TV Stick HD if you own a 4K or HDR-capable large TV and want the most from it: output stops at 1080p and there is no Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos decoding. It has no Ethernet port, so a weak Wi-Fi signal behind the TV will affect playback. If your TV has no powered USB port, you will need your own USB wall adapter, because none comes in the box. And the full Alexa+ assistant is tied to a US Amazon account, so it is not the reason to buy it in the UAE.
