How the Triple-Camera AI Reads Your Floor
Most robot vacuums treat every object as a wall; the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro tries to work out what the object is. According to Xiaomi, its AI model recognises 280 common obstacles across 8 categories, such as shoes, slippers and textiles, and it can pick out earphone cables as thin as 3mm before it rolls over them. It also identifies 80 furniture items across 7 categories, including beds and sofas, which helps it label rooms on the map. Xiaomi states these figures were tested by TÜV Rheinland.
The same cameras let the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro look for mess. Xiaomi lists 47 stain types in three groups, and each group triggers a different response: dry particles such as cat litter raise the suction, liquids such as milk get a first mopping pass followed by a trip back to the station to rinse the pad before a second pass, and wet-and-solid mixtures are bypassed so the robot does not smear them, with a notification sent to the Xiaomi Home app. All AI recognition is switched off by default and has to be enabled in the app.
The front camera of the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro also works as a home monitor: open a live view in Xiaomi Home to check on a pet while you are at work. Xiaomi says this video function passed TÜV SÜD testing against the ETSI EN 303 645 cybersecurity standard, and it stays off until you turn it on.
Suction and Roller Mop on the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro
Xiaomi rates the fan at over 30,000Pa. The condition matters: that is the maximum vacuum pressure read with a gauge at the fan blower while the motor runs on an external power supply in Xiaomi’s lab, not a figure measured at the floor. Xiaomi compares the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro with the 20,000Pa rating of the previous Robot Vacuum 5 Pro (model OV21GL) and calls it a 50% increase, aimed at dust in floor gaps and hair on rugs.
Hair is handled by two parts: an automatic hair-cutting main brush with dual blades and a side brush shaped to shed hair as it spins. On the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro, mopping is done by a roller rather than spinning pads. Sixteen water outlets keep the roller damp, a constant-pressure design presses it onto the floor, and a built-in scraper strips dirty water off the roller as it turns, so grey water is not spread around the kitchen. Xiaomi says this removes semi-dried coffee and ketchup stains, with results depending on the age of the stain.
For corners, both the side brush and the roller mop sit on extendable mechanical arms that push outwards along walls, skirting boards and around table legs.
Thresholds, Low Furniture and Carpets
When the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro meets a step, an omnidirectional wheel lifts the body so it can climb a vertical step up to 3cm, which covers most bathroom and kitchen thresholds. In vacuum mode it can also handle a two-stage obstacle up to 4cm in total, made of a 3cm first step and a 1cm second step, for example the sill of a balcony door.
The LiDAR turret on top retracts. With it lowered the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro measures 90mm tall, and Xiaomi says it enters spaces with as little as 9.3cm of clearance, such as under a bed frame or a low sofa, after finishing the open areas.
Carpet handling is set in the app through six preferences: carpet first, carpet deep clean, carpet boost, ignore carpets, carpet crossing and carpet avoidance. Three scenario modes sit alongside them: deep cleaning, low-noise cleanup and a housekeeper mode that leaves the bathroom and kitchen until last so their dirt is not carried into the bedrooms. These options are off by default.
The Omni Station: Hot Washing, Drying and a 75-Day Dust Bag
After each job the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro returns to the station, which washes the roller with water heated up to 85°C and then dries it with hot air up to 50°C, both measured by Xiaomi at the outlet. You can choose between four washing temperatures and three drying durations. Hot drying matters in a UAE apartment where a damp mop left in a closed laundry room soon starts to smell.
The station also empties the dust compartment of the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro into a sealed disposable bag. Xiaomi’s figure of up to 75 days between bag changes comes from a test in a 120m² home with three people and one pet, cleaning once a day, so a larger villa or a house with two shedding dogs will fill it sooner.
Plan the space before the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro arrives. The station is 289 × 360 × 582mm without the ramp and 470mm deep with the ramp fitted. It draws up to 650W while auto-emptying, up to 1200W while heating wash water and 120W while drying and charging.
Who This Is Not For
- Homes with UK-style sockets and no adapter: this is the EU version with a two-pin Schuko plug. The 220-240V rating matches UAE mains, so only a plug adapter is needed, but it should be a good one because the station pulls up to 1200W when heating water.
- Small spaces: a station 582mm tall and 470mm deep with the ramp is hard to hide in a narrow corridor.
- Buyers who want every number: for the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro, Xiaomi does not publish runtime per charge, noise level, dust compartment size or water tank volumes for this model on its spec page.
- Privacy-first households: the most useful features of the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Pro rely on cameras and the Xiaomi Home app. You can leave them off, but then you lose much of what makes it a Pro.
- Homes with high door sills: in mopping mode the limit is a 3cm vertical step; the 4cm figure applies to a two-stage obstacle in vacuum mode only.
- Anyone expecting zero upkeep: you still refill the clean water tank, empty the dirty water tank and buy dust bags.
