The Kamiwaza Way of the Thief PS4 disc is a stealth action game developed by ACQUIRE Corp. and published in the West by NIS America, released in Europe on 14 October 2022. It is a remaster of a game that first appeared on PlayStation 2 and makes its Western debut here. You play Ebizo, an honourable thief on the streets of Mikado in Edo-period Japan, who steals from the rich, never kills, and must decide how far he will go for the people he holds dear. Voices are in Japanese with English on-screen text.

Ebizo, Ainosuke and the Path of Honour
NIS America’s official description sets the story in Edo-period Japan. Ebizo is an amateur thief who wants to rob the rich and give to the poor. On his very first job, he and his mentor Ainosuke watch in horror as their own crew kills innocent people. Disgusted, Ainosuke urges Ebizo to escape with the only survivor, a young girl. The story that follows tests family bonds and asks whether you can walk the path of honour even as a thief. ACQUIRE’s store description adds that Ebizo now steals to pay for the care of his ailing daughter, and that along the way he crosses paths with a masked man, a mysterious bandit and a military officer. According to the publisher, your choices shape the future through multiple branching storylines, so different decisions lead the plot in different directions.
Just Stealth: Hide, Steal and Wrap
Kamiwaza is about sneaking, not fighting. Ebizo is a gentleman thief who never kills, so he relies on hiding, stealing and wrapping techniques to get past guards and obstacles. The official store description highlights the Just Stealth system, which lets you stay hidden and then strike quickly to lift items before anyone notices. Being spotted does not automatically end a mission: as long as you are not recognised, you can keep going, which makes each break-in more forgiving than a strict fail-on-sight stealth game. The publisher also describes building your reputation as a thief as part of the core loop, so careful, clean work matters. The setting of Mikado gives the action a traditional Japanese look, from streets and rooftops to the houses you slip into.
Single-Player Story and Language Options
Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief is a single-player game. The PlayStation Store lists it for 1 player with Remote Play support and DualShock 4 vibration, and no online multiplayer is listed. The whole experience is the story campaign with its branching paths, which encourages replaying to see other outcomes. Spoken dialogue is in Japanese only, while on-screen text is in English for the Western release, according to both the PlayStation Store and NIS America Europe. PlayStation trophies are part of the PS4 version, as with all PS4 games.
New Sealed Retail Disc and PS5 Use
You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4. The PlayStation Store says the game is playable on PS5, though some PS4 features may be absent; you need a PS5 with a disc drive for the disc. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
This is a remaster of a PlayStation 2 game, so its visuals and structure feel older than modern stealth releases. Voices are Japanese only with English subtitles, and there is no Arabic text. It is a single-player game with no online or split-screen mode. Players who want combat-heavy action may find a thief who never kills too limiting, and the PEGI 12 rating notes violence, language and sexual content.
