Xiaomi rates the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro at up to 20,000Pa of suction, measured in its own lab tests. Xiaomi also lists a 99% hair pick-up rate for its anti-tangle design, again under its test conditions, not in every home.
Navigation and obstacle recognition
The dToF radar retracts automatically when the robot meets low furniture, and Xiaomi says it can then clean spaces down to 9.5cm of clearance. The spec table lists the robot at Φ350 × 88mm.
For obstacles, Xiaomi lists an RGB camera, two infrared cameras and an infrared 3D dot projector, recognition of over 200 object types and 47 types of dirt, plus a 5MP HD camera. Xiaomi lists obstacle crossing up to 20mm, which is low compared with robots that lift their chassis.
Mopping and the omni station
The mop pads lift 15mm to stay off carpets, and the mop extends to reach edges and corners. At the station, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro washes its mops with water heated up to 80°C and dries them in about 2 hours. The clean water tank holds 4L, which Xiaomi says mops up to 400m² in one go.
The dust bag needs replacing up to every 75 days, according to Xiaomi. The station measures 260 × 360 × 572mm, or 470mm deep with the ramp extension fitted.
Battery and power
The battery is 5200mAh nominal (4800mAh rated), and Xiaomi lists up to 140 minutes of continuous cleaning. The station draws up to 1600W while heating water for mop washing and 530W while emptying dust, so it needs a proper wall socket, not a thin extension lead.
App and compatibility
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro works with the Xiaomi Home app on Android 9.0 or iOS 12.0 and above. The box contains the robot, the omni station with tanks, a dust compartment, a filter, brushes, mop pads and documentation, according to Xiaomi.
Who the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is not for
It is not for homes with raised door thresholds: Xiaomi lists obstacle crossing up to 20mm, so higher thresholds or steps will stop it. It is not for small spaces without room for a 360mm-wide, 572mm-tall station. Like most camera-based robots, it can still miss thin cables, so tidy cables off the floor before cleaning.
