The Shokz OpenFit Air White is an open-ear true wireless earbud that hooks over the ear and rests just outside the ear canal, so you hear your music and the room around you at the same time. In white, the soft-touch silicone hook and the body read light and clean, which makes the Shokz OpenFit Air White the colour people pick to match white phones, light sportswear or a bright office desk. Shokz rates it at up to 6 hours per charge and up to 28 hours in total with the charging case, and the earbuds carry an IP54 rating for sweat, dust and light splashes.

What the white colourway looks like day to day
The white version uses the same matte silicone as the other colours, with a metallic ring around the speaker as the only glossy detail. Against light hair or a bare ear it is barely visible from a distance, and it looks tidy with white or grey workout kit. The honest trade-off is cleaning: sunscreen, make-up and the grey film that builds up on any silicone show more on the Shokz OpenFit Air White than on black. A wipe with a slightly damp cloth after a run, then drying before the earbuds go back into the case, keeps it looking new. If you train outdoors every day in heavy sunscreen, the black model hides wear better; if you mostly wear it at a desk or on a commute, white stays clean easily.

DirectPitch: open sound without bone conduction
The Shokz OpenFit Air White does not use bone conduction. DirectPitch is Shokz air-conduction technology: a speaker sits just outside the ear canal and uses reverse sound waves to steer sound towards the ear while cutting much of what would leak outwards. Shokz describes each earbud as using a composite dynamic driver of 18 × 11 mm with a dome diaphragm and polymer edge, together with OpenBass Air for the low end. An adaptive EQ adjusts the sound in real time, and the Shokz app adds preset EQ modes plus a custom one. At normal volume people next to you hear very little; at high volume in a quiet room some sound will escape, as with any open design.

Fit for running, the gym and glasses
The Air-Earhook is a flexible nickel-titanium memory alloy, 0.75 mm thick, that Shokz designed to sit comfortably alongside glasses, caps and helmets. Each Shokz OpenFit Air White earbud weighs 8.7 g (± 0.2 g) and there is one size. Because nothing seals the ear, there is no pressure or blocked-up feeling after a few hours, and you can still hear traffic and bikes when running outdoors; Shokz advises keeping the volume at a level where the surroundings stay audible. The earbuds are rated IP54 against sweat, dust and light splashes, but the charging case is not water resistant, so dry the earbuds before putting them back to charge.
Calls, controls and two devices at once
Four microphones with adaptive beamforming handle calls on the Shokz OpenFit Air White. In Shokz lab simulations of road crossings, stations and restaurants at 65 to 72 dB, the microphone layout improved the signal-to-noise ratio by an average of 29 dB. Touch controls cover calls, play and pause, next track and volume, and the Shokz app lets you remap or switch off the controls, which helps if sweat or hair causes accidental taps. Multipoint keeps two devices connected at the same time, for example a phone and a laptop, but it is off by default and is switched on in the Shokz app; the earbuds remember up to five devices.
Battery and charging
Shokz rates the Shokz OpenFit Air White at up to 6 hours of listening per charge and up to 28 hours in total with the case, measured at 25 °C with AAC audio at 50% volume, so expect less at high volume. A 10-minute quick charge gives about 2 hours of playback. A full charge takes 1 hour for the earbuds in the case and 2 hours for an empty case over USB-C. Bluetooth 5.2 gives a range of up to 10 m, the earbuds pair when the case is opened, and each earbud can also be used on its own.
Who This Is Not For
The open design means there is no noise isolation and no active noise cancellation, so on the metro or a plane you will raise the volume and people nearby may hear more. IP54 does not cover swimming, and the case is not water resistant. The Shokz OpenFit Air White also shows sunscreen, make-up and dirt faster than black. If you need longer battery life, Shokz rates the OpenFit 2 at up to 11 hours per charge and 48 hours with its case.
