Who the white finish suits
White makes the Shokz OpenFit Pro White look more like a piece of tech jewellery than a sports accessory. It suits people who pair their earbuds with a white phone, a silver laptop or light office clothing, and it stands out in a good way against dark hair. It also makes the earbuds easier to spot on a desk or at the bottom of a bag. The care side is simple but worth knowing: sunscreen, make-up and the grey film that gathers on the hooks after months of workouts show up faster on white than on black. Wipe the hooks with a slightly damp cloth after training and let them dry before charging. If the earbuds will spend most of their life in a gym bag, black hides wear better; for the office, travel and daily commuting, white stays tidy with little effort.
SuperBoost sound and Dolby Atmos
Each Shokz OpenFit Pro White earbud uses a self-developed speaker that Shokz describes as an 11 × 20 mm driver with two synchronised diaphragms, equivalent to a 16.7 mm round speaker. SuperBoost and OpenBass 2.0 push more low-frequency energy into an open design, while DirectPitch steers sound towards your ear rather than the room. The tuning is optimised for Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Head Tracking can be enabled and recalibrated in the Shokz app. You hear the Atmos effect with content mixed in Dolby Atmos; normal stereo tracks stay stereo.
Noise reduction on an open earbud
The Shokz OpenFit Pro White applies active noise reduction to an earbud that does not seal your ear. Three microphones, two feedforward and one feedback, work with what Shokz calls an Ear Adaptive Algorithm that adjusts to the shape of your ear and the fit. Noise reduction is off by default; you switch it on with a long press on the button or in the app, where you can also set the level. In practice it takes the edge off steady noise such as air conditioning and road hum while you still hear people talk. Shokz notes that results vary with ear shape, fit and surroundings, and an open design cannot isolate you the way sealed in-ear ANC earbuds do.
Battery and wireless charging
With noise reduction off, Shokz rates the Shokz OpenFit Pro White at up to 12 hours per charge and up to 50 hours in total with the case. With noise reduction on, the figures fall to up to 6 hours and 24 hours. A 10-minute quick charge gives about 4 hours of playback. The case charges over USB-C or on any Qi-certified wireless charger; Shokz quotes about 180 minutes to charge an empty case wirelessly and advises removing the case’s protective cover and centring it on the pad.
Fit, buttons, calls and the app
Each earbud weighs 12.3 g (± 0.2 g) and the case 74.8 g (± 2 g); the hook is one size, with support accessories in the box to fine-tune the fit. On the Shokz OpenFit Pro White, controls are raised physical buttons rather than touch panels, easier to press with sweaty fingers, and wear detection pauses playback when you take an earbud out. The earbuds are rated IP55 against dust, sweat and low-pressure water; the case has no water rating. Bluetooth 6.1 gives up to 10 m of range, MultiPoint connects two devices through the Shokz app, and the microphones also handle call and wind noise. The app covers noise reduction, EQ modes, button customisation, Find My Earbuds, head tracking and firmware updates.
Who This Is Not For
Open-ear designs leak sound at high volume, so the Shokz OpenFit Pro White is not ideal for silent libraries or shared bedrooms. Bass and isolation are weaker than sealed in-ear earbuds, and open-ear noise reduction will not silence a plane cabin. At 12.3 g per earbud it is heavier than OpenFit 2 or OpenFit Air, the case is not water resistant, and Shokz does not publish the Bluetooth codecs it supports, so anyone who needs LDAC or aptX should look elsewhere. White also shows dirt faster than black.
