The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow pairs Samsung’s biggest foldable with the colour that stands out most in the line-up and twice the storage of the base model. Violet Shadow is a deep, muted purple rather than a bright one. Inside, Samsung fits a 200MP main camera, 8K video at 30fps, an 8-inch inner screen that works as a large editing canvas, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and 12GB of memory. This unit is the TDRA-approved UAE version.

Violet Shadow up close
Violet Shadow is the colour Samsung leads with, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow wears it well. It reads as a dark plum in indoor light and shows more of its purple tone in daylight, so the phone looks different from the black and grey slabs on most tables. It pairs well with silver or gold accessories, neutral clothing and clear cases that let the colour show through. Being a dark shade, it hides small scuffs better than Cream, though fingerprints can still appear on the back. If you want your phone to look personal without being loud, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow is the one to pick.
Why 512GB matters for creators
The 200MP sensor and 8K recording are the reason many buyers choose the Ultra, and both fill storage quickly. There is no memory card slot on any version, so the storage you buy is the storage you keep. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow doubles the base 256GB while keeping the same 12GB of memory, which suits anyone who shoots daily for social media, keeps RAW or full-resolution photos on the phone, or edits video before uploading. If you only shoot casually and back up everything to the cloud, the 256GB model costs less; if you also want 16GB of memory, the 1TB model adds it.
The camera system
Samsung lists a 200MP wide camera at f/1.7 with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide at f/1.9 with a 120-degree view, and a 10MP telephoto at f/2.4 with OIS and 3x optical zoom. The 200MP sensor also gives 2x optical-quality zoom, and digital zoom goes up to 30x. Video records up to 8K at 30fps, and Samsung says both the wide and ultra-wide cameras support 8K. Because the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow folds, you can stand it half-open on a table as a tripod for time-lapses or group shots, and use the 10MP cover-screen camera with the rear cameras for higher-quality selfies.
Editing on an 8-inch screen
The inner screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow is an 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 2504 × 2256 with a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, according to Samsung. On the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow, that is a much bigger canvas for cropping photos, trimming clips or reviewing a shoot than a normal phone screen, and side-by-side multi-window lets you keep the gallery open next to the editing or posting app. The 6.5-inch cover screen at 2520 × 1080 is a normal phone screen for shooting and messaging when the phone is closed.
Battery for long shooting days
Samsung rates the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow battery at 5,000mAh typical (4,854mAh rated, two cells) and up to 27 hours of video playback in lab conditions. Recording 8K video uses far more power than playback, so carry a charger on busy shoot days. With a 45W adapter (sold separately) and a 3A cable, Samsung lists up to 67% in about 30 minutes. Wireless charging reaches 20W, and Wireless PowerShare can charge earbuds from the back of the phone.
The rest, in brief
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, with Android 17 with One UI 9 and, per Samsung UAE, up to seven OS upgrades and security updates. 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Armor FlexHinge with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, fold tested to 200,000 times. IP48. 215 g, 8.9 mm thick folded and 4.1 mm unfolded. No S Pen support.
Who This Is Not For
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow is not for beach or desert shoots: IP48 only protects against particles larger than 1 mm, and Samsung does not recommend beach or pool use. At 215 g it is heavier than a normal flagship, which matters if you shoot handheld for long periods. It does not support the S Pen, so it is not a note-taking tool. There is no memory card slot, and the 45W adapter needed for the fastest charging is sold separately. If you prefer a colour that does not stand out, Graphite is the quieter choice. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 512GB Violet Shadow is also more phone than you need if you rarely shoot photos or video.
