The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 256GB Violet Shadow is the entry storage version of Samsung’s top foldable, in its most distinctive colour. It keeps everything that makes the Ultra the Ultra: an 8-inch main screen, a full-width 6.5-inch cover screen, a 200MP main camera with a 3x telephoto, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. This unit has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and is the TDRA-approved UAE version, Samsung model SM-F976B, so it is covered by the local agent’s warranty.

Violet Shadow up close
Violet Shadow is a deep, muted purple rather than a bright lilac: in low light it reads almost as dark grey, and in daylight the violet tone comes through on the back glass and frame. It suits buyers who want the Ultra to look different from the black slabs on every meeting table without choosing something loud. It pairs well with grey, black or clear cases, and a clear case keeps the colour visible. Like any dark finish it shows fingerprints on the glass, so a wipe now and then keeps it looking clean. Graphite and Cream are the quieter alternatives.
Screens
The main display of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 256GB Violet Shadow is an 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 2504 × 2256 with up to 120Hz. Samsung UAE says it is 15% brighter than the Fold7, with a peak of 3,000 nits, and adds an anti-reflection coating. The cover screen is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 2520 × 1080, wide enough to type and browse without opening the phone. One UI 9 runs two or three apps side by side on the main screen, and the Armor FlexHinge holds free-stop angles.
Cameras
The rear system of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 256GB Violet Shadow pairs a 200MP wide camera at f/1.7, a 50MP ultra-wide at f/1.9 and a 10MP telephoto at f/2.4. Samsung lists 3x optical zoom, 2x optical-quality zoom from the Adaptive Pixel sensor and digital zoom up to 30x. The ultra-wide rises from 12MP on the Fold7 to 50MP, and Samsung says its aperture brings up to 34% more brightness. Both wide and ultra-wide record 8K at 30fps. On the 256GB model, keep in mind that 200MP photos and 8K clips are large files, so cloud backup helps.
Performance and connections
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is an octa-core chip that Samsung lists at up to 4.74GHz, and Samsung says the NPU is 21% stronger than in the Fold7 for on-device Galaxy AI. This Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 256GB Violet Shadow has 12GB of RAM and about 223.5GB of usable storage. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, UWB and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, takes a nano-SIM plus eSIM or two eSIMs, and gets security updates until 31 July 2033 according to Samsung.
Battery and build
Samsung rates the battery at 5,000mAh typical (4,854mAh rated) with up to 27 hours of video playback in its lab test on the main screen. Samsung advertises fast wired and wireless charging but does not state the wattage in its UAE spec sheet. The phone is 4.1 mm thin unfolded, 8.9 mm folded and weighs 215 g. It has an Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the front, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back, and IP48 water resistance tested to 1.5 metres of fresh water for 30 minutes.
Who This Is Not For
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 256GB Violet Shadow is not for anyone who wants an S Pen: Samsung confirms the Fold 8 Ultra does not support it. IP48 gives limited dust protection, so beach sand is a risk. At 215 g it is heavier than the 201 g Galaxy Z Fold 8. People who shoot a lot of 8K video should consider the 512GB or 1TB versions, since 256GB fills quickly.
