The JBL PartyBox 720 is a large party speaker with a light show, built for majlis gatherings, weddings, backyard nights and events. JBL rates it at 800W RMS from two 9-inch woofers and two 1.25-inch tweeters, with IPX4 splash protection, Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast and two XLR inputs for microphones, guitars or a DJ console. This listing is the version without batteries in the box: it runs on 100–240V mains power and accepts two JBL Battery 600 packs, which are sold separately.

Table of Contents
800W RMS and the drivers
JBL rates the JBL PartyBox 720 at 800W RMS, measured to IEC 60268, which is continuous power rather than a peak figure. The sound comes from two 9-inch (243 mm) woofers and two 1.25-inch (30 mm) dome tweeters, with a frequency response from 32 Hz to 20 kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB. That low 32 Hz starting point is what gives the deep bass a big room or a garden party needs. JBL does not publish a maximum SPL figure for this model.

Mains power and the optional batteries
The speaker runs on 100–240V, 50/60 Hz mains power through a 2 m AC cord. For use away from a socket it takes two JBL Battery 600 packs, each Li-ion 99.02 Wh. JBL rates play time at up to 15 hours with both packs, depending on volume and audio content, and a charge time of 3 hours with the speaker switched off. On this version the batteries are not included, so for desert camping or the beach without power you need to buy both packs separately.

Inputs, USB-C and Auracast
Two XLR combo inputs take microphones, guitars or a DJ console, which suits karaoke nights and small live sets. There is also a 3.5 mm aux input and a USB-C port that streams audio from karaoke apps and charges a phone, with USB-C power profiles up to 20V/1.5A. Bluetooth is version 5.4, and Auracast links multiple compatible JBL speakers; you can also pair two JBL PartyBox 720 units for stereo. The JBL PartyBox app controls music, EQ and lighting.

Light show
The JBL PartyBox 720 has a built-in light show with star, trail and strobe effects that move with the beat. You can change the patterns and colours from the PartyBox app, so the speaker sets the mood for a party without separate lighting. For a quiet family evening you can switch the lights to a calmer pattern or turn them off.

Splash proof, size and weight
JBL rates the JBL PartyBox 720 IPX4 splash proof, which covers splashes from any direction, not rain or immersion in a pool. It measures 416 × 942 × 406 mm and weighs 31 kg, or 34.9 kg in its box. An integrated handle and wider wheels make it practical to roll across a garden or a car park, but lifting it into a car boot is a two-person job.

Who This Is Not For
The JBL PartyBox 720 is not for outdoor use without power unless you also buy two JBL Battery 600 packs, which are not in this box. At 31 kg it is not a speaker one person lifts easily. IPX4 covers splashes only, so it should not stand where it can get soaked by a pool or rain. Microphones are not included. For a small room or a speaker to carry on a shoulder, a smaller PartyBox or a portable speaker is a better fit.
