The Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M is a smart colour light strip from Govee, sold in a box labelled Govee RGB LED Strip Light. You stick it behind a TV, under a shelf or along a bed frame, then change its colour, brightness and effects from the Govee Home app on your phone. Govee’s own product images list 64 scene modes, reactive music modes that make the light move with sound, voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and remote control through the app from wherever you are. It is a simple way to add coloured accent lighting to a room or a gaming desk.
Table of Contents
RGB colour from the Govee Home app
The Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M is an RGB strip: the whole strip shows one colour at a time, chosen from a colour wheel in the Govee Home app. You can set a calm warm tone for the evening, a cool colour behind a monitor, or let it change through effects. Govee notes that its Home app is used by more than 10 million registered users, and the box shows the app with colour, scene and music tabs. Because it is RGB rather than RGBIC, it does not show several different colours along the strip at the same moment.
64 scene modes
Govee lists 64 scene modes for the Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M. Its product images show examples such as Forest, Candlelight, Sunset, Movie, Romantic, Dating and Morning. Each scene sets a colour and an effect in one tap, so you do not have to build a look from scratch every evening. A Movie scene behind the TV, Candlelight for dinner and Morning for waking up cover most everyday needs. Scenes are picked from the app, and you can return to a plain single colour at any time.
Reactive music modes
The Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M has music modes that make the light react to sound. Govee shows the strip glowing behind a TV while people watch a concert, with the colours moving to the music. The app shows a sensitivity slider and several music styles, so you can make the effect calmer or livelier. It suits parties, gaming sessions and films with strong soundtracks. Keep the strip’s controller in a spot where it can pick up the sound clearly.
Voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant
The box and product images carry the Works with Alexa and Works with Hey Google badges. After you link your Govee account in the Alexa or Google Home app, you can turn the light on or off, change the colour or dim it by voice, for example by saying “Alexa, turn on the lights.” Govee also shows the Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M being controlled remotely through the Govee Home app, so you can switch it off after leaving home. Voice and remote control depend on a working home internet connection and the app setup.
Where it fits at home
The Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M is long enough to run around the back of a large TV, along a bed headboard, under kitchen cabinets or around a gaming desk. Clean and dry the surface before sticking the strip, plan the route first, and avoid pulling the strip tight around sharp corners. It is meant for indoor use, away from water, steam and direct sun. The controller and power cable need to reach a socket, so check the path from the strip’s start to the plug before mounting.
Who This Is Not For
The Govee RGB LED Strip Lights 5M is not for anyone who wants several colours along the strip at once (that needs an RGBIC strip), nor for outdoor, bathroom or wet areas. Govee’s product images do not state the power rating, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth version, cut points, lifespan or the full box contents for this exact listing, so we do not quote them. Voice and remote control need the Govee Home app and a home internet connection.
