Chicken Police Switch is the physical Game Card edition of Chicken Police: Paint it RED!, a story-rich noir detective adventure published by HandyGames under THQ Nordic Mobile. It mixes visual novel dialogue with classic adventure elements: you question more than 30 characters, collect clues and personal secrets, and use them to crack a case in Clawville, a city where every resident is an animal. Nintendo UK lists the Game Card from 1 July 2021, following the download release on 5 November 2020. The game is rated PEGI 16 for bad language and is for a single player.
Table of Contents
Two old cops, one strange case
The story follows a once-famous detective duo of chickens whose glory days are long behind them. A mysterious client brings them back together for one more job, and the case turns out to be bigger and darker than anything they handled before. Nintendo describes the tone as a satire with a gritty, hopeless noir mood delivered with cynical humour, so expect betrayals, smoky offices and sharp, dry dialogue rather than a light comedy. The film-noir storyline is the centre of Chicken Police Switch, and the plot is what pulls you from one chapter to the next.
Clawville, a city of animals
Clawville is the setting of Chicken Police Switch, and Nintendo lists more than 30 locations to visit, some of which change as the story moves forward, so returning to a familiar place can open new conversations. The visual style is unusual: characters are built from real photographs combined with photo-realistic 3D backgrounds, inspired by film noir and animated features. Most scenes use dark, monochrome tones that suit the detective theme. Many collectibles are spread across the city for players who like to explore every corner instead of rushing to the next scene.
Interrogations and detective work
Most of your time in Chicken Police Switch is spent talking. Nintendo lists a complex interrogation system: you gather clues, evidence and sensitive personal information, then choose the right question or piece of proof at the right moment to push a suspect towards the truth. With more than 30 characters to interrogate, reading each personality matters, and a careless line can cost you information. There are no fast reflexes or combat skills to master; the challenge is in paying attention and connecting details.
Voice acting, music and cutscenes
Nintendo lists professional voice acting with more than 8 hours of spoken dialogue, an original soundtrack and more than 20 cutscenes. In a dialogue-heavy game this matters a great deal, because the voices carry the tired, bickering chemistry between the two detectives through long conversations. The game supports handheld, tabletop and TV modes, and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is listed as compatible, so you can play chapter by chapter in bed or settle in front of the TV.
The Game Card edition
This Chicken Police Switch edition is the physical Game Card, so the game sits on your shelf and can be lent or passed on after you solve the case. For comparison, Nintendo lists the download version at 3.9 GB. Nintendo Switch games are not region-locked, so the European card plays on any Nintendo Switch in the UAE. Supported text languages listed by Nintendo are Japanese, English, Spanish, French, German, Russian and Chinese. Save Data Cloud is listed for Nintendo Switch Online members.
Who This Is Not For
Chicken Police Switch is not for younger children: it is rated PEGI 16 for bad language and has a dark, adult noir tone. It is single-player only, with no co-op or online multiplayer. Players who want action, platforming or quick reflexes will find mostly reading, listening and choosing dialogue. There is no Arabic language option, and the publisher does not give an official playtime.
