Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch is the European physical cartridge of Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! 2, the 2D beat ’em up published by Microids and developed by Mr Nutz Studio. It is a PEGI 7 box for Nintendo Switch, playable alone or with a friend in local co-op, and it continues the slapstick brawling of the first game with a brand-new story, new stages and new bosses drawn in the style of the comic books.

The Story of Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch
The plot of Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch is original rather than a retelling of a single album. Young Justforkix turns up in the Gaulish village asking for help: his father Doublehelix has been thrown in jail for stealing the Aquila of Lutetia, the golden eagle emblem of a Roman legion, a crime he did not commit. Asterix and Obelix set off for Lutetia to find out who really took the eagle, and of course every Roman patrol along the way gets a lesson in Gaulish hospitality.
Between stages, short animated sketches move the plot forward and keep the tone light. Microids states that Les Éditions Albert René supervised the project so that characters, jokes and places stay faithful to the books by Goscinny and Uderzo.

Hand-Drawn Stages from the Forest to Lutetia
The journey crosses mysterious ruins hidden in the forest, an imposing Roman camp, the streets of Lutetia and lands further away. Characters, backgrounds and animations in Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch are drawn by hand in 2D, so it looks like a moving comic page rather than a 3D adaptation.
Some parts of the scenery can be smashed, and barrels and menhirs lying around can be picked up and thrown into a crowd of legionaries. Microids describes the new enemies and bosses as tougher than in the first Slap Them All, which means groups of soldiers that need more than one button mashed over and over.
Combat Tricks in Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch
Both heroes have new special moves that can be charged up for stronger hits. A Fury mode boosts your strength for a short time, and each hero has a unique Ultimate attack for the moments when the screen fills with Romans. Pick your Gaul, learn his specials, and decide when to spend the Fury mode for the biggest effect on each wave.
The controls of Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch stay simple enough for younger players, yet charging specials, timing the Fury mode and using thrown objects gives older fans something to master on the harder fights.

Local Co-op on One Console
Nintendo lists Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch for 1 to 2 players on a single system. A second player takes the other Gaul and joins the same screen, which suits a sibling, a parent or a friend on the sofa. Each player needs a compatible controller, so check that you have a second controller before inviting a friend. Nintendo does not list online multiplayer for this release.
Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch runs in TV, tabletop and handheld modes, and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is supported if you prefer a full pad on the big screen.
Why Pick the Physical PEGI Edition
This is the European box with the PEGI 7 rating, the descriptor for violence of a cartoon kind. The Nintendo eShop lists English, Spanish, French, German and Italian as supported languages, and the download version needs about 2.4 GB, so the Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch cartridge saves that space on your memory card. You can lend the box to a friend or keep it on the shelf next to the first game.

Who This Is Not For
Asterix Slap Them All 2 Switch is not ideal for players who want online co-op: Nintendo lists only local play for 1 to 2 players on one console. Fans of deep RPG systems or long open worlds: this is a stage-based arcade brawler, and the publisher does not publish an official playtime. Families who want zero fighting: it is PEGI 7 with cartoon violence, though the tone is comic. Anyone expecting Arabic menus: the listed languages are English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
