The Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 disc is the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, developed by Infinity Ward, the studio behind the original Modern Warfare series, and published by Activision. It is a reimagining of the series rather than a remaster of the 2007 game, with a darker story, a new international cast and covert operations that move between European cities and Middle Eastern conflict zones. On PlayStation 4 you get the full single-player campaign, online multiplayer for up to 20 players with PlayStation Plus, and the Special Ops cooperative mode. This copy is the North American edition, carrying the ESRB Mature 17+ rating on the box.

Which Modern Warfare this is
Activision has used the Modern Warfare name for several games, so it helps to be precise. This is the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, released on 25 October 2019 for PS4, the one with Captain Price on the cover and the large MW logo behind him. It is not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007), Modern Warfare Remastered, or the later Modern Warfare II (2022) and Modern Warfare III (2023). If you are looking for the 2019 campaign and its multiplayer maps on disc, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 is the right box.
The campaign
PlayStation describes the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 campaign as a visceral, narrative-driven story that pushes the boundaries of the series. You play through covert missions with special forces operators in European landmarks and Middle Eastern hot zones, with a stronger focus on night-vision raids, close-quarters building clearing and difficult choices than earlier entries. The campaign is single-player and works offline once the game is installed, so it is a good choice for players who want a self-contained story without relying on online play.
Multiplayer and Ground War
Online, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 supports up to 20 players with a PlayStation Plus subscription, which Sony lists as required for online play. Match sizes range from tight 2v2 contests to standard 6v6 modes and large-scale Ground War battles on bigger maps. Weapons can be tuned in depth through the Gunsmith system, and progression unlocks attachments, operators and equipment. The game also includes optional in-game purchases, such as Call of Duty Points for the Battle Pass, which you never need to buy to play the core modes.
Special Ops co-op
Special Ops is the cooperative side of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4. PlayStation describes it as a set of Operations with multi-phased objectives that continue the story after the campaign, played online with a team rather than against other players. It suits friends who prefer working together over competitive matches, but like multiplayer it needs an internet connection and PlayStation Plus.
PS4, PS5 and the edition
The disc is a PS4 game. Sony states it is also playable on PS5, though some features available on PS4 may be absent; you need a PS5 with a disc drive to use a physical copy. This is the North American edition: the PlayStation store page for Canada lists English and French audio and text, so do not expect Arabic menus. The ESRB rating is Mature 17+ for blood and gore, intense violence, strong language, suggestive themes and use of drugs, so it is not suitable for children.
Who This Is Not For
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 is not for younger players: it is rated ESRB Mature 17+ with intense violence and strong language. Online multiplayer and Special Ops require a PlayStation Plus subscription and an internet connection. It does not include Arabic language, and it is the 2019 game, not Modern Warfare II or III. It cannot be played on a PS5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. Expect large downloads and updates before online play, and do not buy it expecting the free-to-play Warzone, which is a separate download.
