Silent Hill 2 PS5 is Konami’s remake of its psychological horror classic, developed by Bloober Team and released on PlayStation 5 in October 2024. Having received a letter from his deceased wife, James Sunderland travels to Silent Hill, the town where they shared so many memories, hoping to see her one more time. Konami presents it as a master class in psychological horror rebuilt for current hardware.

A Letter From a Dead Wife
The setup is simple and unsettling. James receives a letter from his wife, who has died, and heads to Silent Hill to find her. By the lake he meets a woman eerily similar to her, who smiles and introduces herself: ‘My name… is Maria.’ From there the town’s fog, monsters and locked doors draw him deeper into a story that is far more about James himself than about the town.
PlayStation describes Silent Hill 2 PS5 as a search for James’s late wife in a psychological horror given new life. Konami calls it lauded as the best in the series, now on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sound.
From Fixed Cameras to Over-the-Shoulder
The biggest change in this remake is the camera. The fixed viewpoints of the original are replaced by an over-the-shoulder perspective that keeps you close behind James, for more immersion and engagement. Combat has been updated around familiar weapons such as the steel pipe and the handgun, with timed dodges, aiming and more engaging encounters.
Exploration also grows. Konami says players can visit previously inaccessible locations and newly added areas across an expanded map, while the acclaimed narrative of the original is kept.
Silent Hill 2 PS5 Features
On PS5 the game uses ray tracing and other technical enhancements, along with new soundscapes designed for realism and atmosphere, and it supports PlayStation’s 3D Audio. The DualSense controller’s vibration function and trigger effects are supported, and PlayStation lists Silent Hill 2 PS5 as PS5 Pro Enhanced.
PlayStation also lists Remote Play, Game Help and 28 accessibility features covering controls, difficulty, subtitles and gameplay assists. The game is single-player and can be played offline.
Languages, Rating and Edition
Voice acting is in English and Japanese. On-screen text covers English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Chinese; Arabic is not offered. PlayStation’s UAE page shows an NMC 18 rating, and the case in our photos is the North American print rated ESRB Mature 17+ for blood and gore, language, sexual themes and violence.
This is the standard edition on disc. The digital Deluxe Edition’s extras, a digital artbook, a digital soundtrack and a Pyramid Head mask, are not part of it. Konami’s newer Silent Hill: Townfall is a separate game with its own story.
Who This Is Not For
Silent Hill 2 PS5 is an adult game: it is rated 18 in the UAE and deals with grief, guilt, violence and sexual themes. Players who want fast action or constant combat may find its slow pace, puzzles and long stretches of exploration demanding.
There is no multiplayer, and there is no Arabic text or audio. Anyone who wants the artbook, soundtrack or Pyramid Head mask from the Deluxe Edition will need to buy those digitally.
