The DualSense Charging Station is Sony’s official dock for PS5 controllers, model CFI-ZDS1. Sony says it charges up to two DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controllers at the same time without connecting them to your PlayStation 5, and that they charge as quickly as when plugged into the console. The station runs from its own AC adaptor, so your PS5 USB ports stay free. This is the US version: the AC power cord has a US plug, so in the UAE you need a simple plug adapter.

Two controllers, one dock
The DualSense Charging Station has two bays, so a household with two players, or one player with a spare, always has a charged controller ready. Sony lists both the standard DualSense and the DualSense Edge as compatible, so you can dock a Pro-style Edge next to a regular pad. Controllers are sold separately; the box contains the station, the AC adaptor, the AC power cord and the user manual. The station does not work with the PS4 DUALSHOCK 4, because that controller does not have the contacts the dock uses.
Click-in design
Sony’s manual describes the process: place the controller on the DualSense Charging Station and press down until it clicks. There is no cable to line up, and lifting a controller off is just as quick. While it charges, the light bar on the controller slowly blinks orange, and when charging is complete the light bar turns off. The station itself is compact; Sony lists its external dimensions as approximately 52 × 62 × 159 mm and its mass as approximately 180 g, so it fits beside the console or on a TV shelf.
Charging speed and time
Sony states that controllers charge on the DualSense Charging Station as quickly as when connected to the PS5. The manual gives a charging time of approximately 3 hours for a controller whose battery has no remaining charge. That is normal DualSense charging, not fast charging. The benefit is convenience: the controllers charge whether the console is on, in Rest Mode or switched off, and you free up the PS5’s USB ports for a headset, an external drive or other accessories.
Power, voltage and the US plug
The station runs from the supplied AC adaptor, which Sony rates at 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz input and 5.1 V 2.8 A output, so it accepts the 220 to 240 V mains used in the UAE. Because this is the US version of the DualSense Charging Station, the supplied AC power cord has a US plug. Use a plain plug adapter for UAE sockets. Sony’s manual warns against connecting the cord to a voltage transformer or an inverter, which can cause heat build-up; a step-down transformer is not needed.
Setup and care
Setup takes a minute. Connect the AC power cord to the AC adaptor, connect the adaptor to the DC IN connector on the DualSense Charging Station, and only then plug the cord into a wall socket. If dust or anything else gets on the contacts, wipe them with a dry cloth before docking a controller. Sony lists an operating temperature of 5 to 35 °C and warns against leaving the product in a closed car in hot weather, so keep it indoors and away from direct sun.
Who This Is Not For
The DualSense Charging Station is not for PS4 DUALSHOCK 4 controllers. It does not charge faster than the console; it only frees ports and keeps controllers in one place. It needs a wall socket nearby and, as the US version, a plug adapter for UAE sockets. Thick controller skins or cases that cover the contacts can stop charging. If you only have one controller and charge it overnight from the PS5, a cable does the same job.
