The Xiaomi Smart Projector L1 Pro (global model XMTYY03PFMG) is a compact home projector with streaming built in. Its LCD panel has a native resolution of 1920 × 1080, it can play 4K video files with the detail downscaled to that panel, and Xiaomi rates brightness at 400 ISO lumens, tested under ISO/IEC 21118:2020. Autofocus, automatic keystone correction, obstacle avoidance and screen alignment set the picture up for you, and two 5W speakers with Dolby Audio mean you can watch without an external sound system. It projects from 40 to 120 inches, with Xiaomi recommending 60 to 100 inches.
Table of Contents
Picture: native 1080p, 400 ISO lumens
The Xiaomi Smart Projector L1 Pro is a Full HD projector: the panel itself is 1080p, and 4K support means it can decode and play 4K video, not display native 4K. Brightness is 400 ISO lumens by Xiaomi’s independent test (its spec table writes 400 ANSI lumens), which is right for a dark or dimmed room in the evening. In a bright living room with daylight on the wall, the image washes out, so curtains matter. Xiaomi does not publish a contrast ratio or HDR support. The 1.21:1 throw ratio means roughly 2.7 m from the wall gives about a 100-inch image.
Automatic setup
Xiaomi lists fully automatic focus and keystone correction, obstacle avoidance and screen alignment. Put the Xiaomi Smart Projector L1 Pro on a table, a shelf or a ceiling mount, and it straightens and sharpens the picture itself. Xiaomi notes the keystone range is up to 15 degrees on each axis, so side or tilted placement beyond 15 degrees will not be fully corrected, and obstacle avoidance cannot guarantee that every object, such as a lamp or a plant, is avoided. The sealed optical engine keeps dust away from the inner display, which matters in the UAE where fine dust gets everywhere.
Google TV, Cast and apps
Xiaomi describes the software experience as Google TV (its spec table lists Android TV OS), with Google Cast for sending video from a phone and the Google Assistant button on the remote; Xiaomi notes Assistant is not available in every language and country. The Xiaomi Smart Projector L1 Pro runs on an MT9630 chip with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, and connects over dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.0. Xiaomi does not mention Netflix on the product or spec pages, so do not count on a built-in Netflix app; casting from a phone or a separate streaming stick are alternatives.
Sound: two 5W speakers with Dolby Audio
Two 5W full-range speakers sit inside, with Dolby Audio certification. Xiaomi points out that Dolby decoding applies to streaming content that supports it. For a bedroom or a small majlis, the built-in sound is enough for films and series; for action films in a larger room, a soundbar over Bluetooth adds bass the small speakers cannot. Fan noise is rated at 30 dB(A) or less in theatre mode at 25 °C, quiet enough not to distract during dialogue.
Size, power and the box
The Xiaomi Smart Projector L1 Pro measures 210 × 128 × 189 mm and weighs 2.0 kg, small enough to move between rooms or take to a family gathering. It runs from an external power adapter (19.0 V, 6.32 A output) and draws 120 W or less, with standby at 0.5 W or less. Xiaomi rates operation from 0 to 40 °C, so keep it out of a hot car or direct sun on a balcony. In the box: projector, remote control, power adapter, power cable, user manual and warranty notice.
Who This Is Not For
The Xiaomi Smart Projector L1 Pro is not for anyone who wants native 4K, HDR, or a picture that stays punchy in a bright room: 400 ISO lumens needs dim light. Xiaomi does not list Netflix, so Netflix fans may need a separate streaming device. It is not battery powered, it is rated for 0–40 °C only, and its 2 × 5W speakers will not fill a large hall.
