Sound From a Dual-Magnet Driver
Each earbud uses a dual-magnet dynamic driver built with N52 magnets and a Daikoku CCAW voice coil from Japan. Xiaomi tuned it using HRTF (head-related transfer function) methods and quotes total harmonic distortion of 0.07% or less, measured at 1 kHz and 94 dB SPL. A separate back cavity with a metal mesh vent is there to keep the low end controlled rather than boomy.

Calls and Two Devices at Once
For calls, three microphones per earbud (feedback, feedforward and a dedicated talk mic) work with a neural-network noise-reduction algorithm to separate your voice from background noise. The Xiaomi Buds 3 can also hold two connections at once across Android, iOS and Windows, so a call on your phone comes through while the earbuds are also paired to your laptop, without re-pairing each time you switch.
