A Magical High School Girl is a magic-crafting roguelike RPG from the Japanese developer illuCallab, and this is its physical Nintendo Switch release from Strictly Limited Games. It is not a visual novel: you explore dungeons as a schoolgirl lost in a magical world, and the only weapon you have is the magic you create yourself, starting with a name you type in. Strictly Limited Games made this edition individually numbered and limited to 1,700 copies worldwide, with a reversible cover.

The Strictly Limited Games Edition of A Magical High School Girl
Strictly Limited Games, the German publisher of small-run physical editions, lists its Limited Edition Switch release (spelled A Magical High-School Girl on the box) as a Strictly Limited Games exclusive, individually numbered and limited to 1,700 copies worldwide, with a reversible cover. It is an officially licensed Nintendo Switch game card in a standard case. The publisher notes that there is no age rating printed or stickered on the box; the USK 6 rating appears on the game card itself. Strictly Limited Games also sold a separate, more expensive Collector’s Edition of the game; that bundle is a different product, and what you receive here is the numbered Limited Edition in its standard case.
How Magic Crafting Works
The official description, shared by Nintendo’s eShop listing, starts with one idea: you can freely name your magic, and the game generates the spell’s elemental properties and effects automatically from what you typed. Two players typing different words get different spells, which is the hook that sets A Magical High School Girl apart from other dungeon crawlers. From there you develop the magics you obtain, collect new magic from magic stones inside the dungeon, and combine spells to build stronger ones. Because there is no sword or gun to fall back on, every fight in A Magical High School Girl depends on how well your spell list fits the monsters in front of you.
A Roguelike Dungeon RPG, Not a Visual Novel
Nintendo’s listing files the game under role-playing, with pixel art and random maps and levels among its tags. In the story, a high school girl finds herself in a magical world and battles strange monsters alongside mysterious witches, and her survival depends on her crafting. Roguelike here means the dungeon is the main loop: layouts change, you push deeper, collect magic stones and refine your spells. It is a game about experimenting with spell names and combinations, not about reading long branching dialogue, so anyone expecting a choice-driven romance or mystery story should look elsewhere.
Players, Languages and Ratings
A Magical High School Girl is single-player only. Nintendo’s North American listing names Sekai Games as publisher and illuCallab as developer, gives a release date of 7 June 2018 for the eShop version, and lists Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English. Arabic is not supported. Strictly Limited Games states that the game is rated USK 6 in Germany, and Nintendo’s North American page lists the ESRB descriptor Fantasy Violence. Some promotional screenshots show Japanese text because they come from the original Japanese release; English is selectable according to Nintendo’s language list.
Why Collectors Pick It Up
Small-run Switch releases tend to disappear quickly once the print run sells out, and the official Strictly Limited Games listing for this edition is already marked sold out. For collectors of niche Japanese indie games, the individual number and the reversible cover are the draw; for players, a physical card means the game can be lent, kept on a shelf and played without downloading it from the eShop. Either way, A Magical High School Girl suits short sessions on a handheld Switch, since each dungeon run is a self-contained test of the spells you have built.
Who This Is Not For
This is not a game for players who want a story-heavy visual novel, local co-op or online play; it is a single-player dungeon RPG built around trial and error. The pixel-art presentation is simple, there is no Arabic text, and neither Strictly Limited Games nor Nintendo publishes the playtime. Buyers who want extra collectibles in the box need the separate Collector’s Edition, which is not this product.
