PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition Console – Jumbo TDRA UAE Version

The PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition is the TDRA-approved UAE version of PS5 Pro, which Sony calls its most advanced and innovative console hardware to date. Sony announced it on 10 September 2024 and launched it on 7 November 2024. It pairs an upgraded GPU with advanced ray tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an AI-driven upscaler, so enhanced games can run with sharper 4K images and higher frame rates at the same time. It comes with a 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 support and a DualSense controller. Like every PS5 Pro, it has no built-in disc drive.

Upgraded GPU and advanced ray tracing

Sony says the GPU in the PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition has 67% more compute units than the standard PS5 and 28% faster memory, enabling up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay. Its more powerful ray tracing can cast rays at double, and at times triple, the speed of the standard PS5, giving more dynamic reflections, refraction, shadows and global illumination. Sony is clear that these gains apply to select PS5 games enhanced for PS5 Pro, and that the enhanced features vary by game. Its PS5 Pro page lists more than 100 enhanced titles, from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Gran Turismo 7.

PSSR: AI upscaling for your 4K TV

PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution uses machine learning to add detail and produce super sharp image clarity on a 4K TV. In practice, developers can render at a lower resolution and let PSSR rebuild a 4K image while keeping 60 fps; Naughty Dog, for example, renders The Last of Us Part II Remastered at 1440p and upscales to 4K with PSSR at a 60 fps target. Sony also offers an Enhance PSSR Image Quality setting for supported titles. On the PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition, compatible games can run at 60 fps, or up to 120 fps on a 120Hz display, with ray tracing and PSSR together. Sony also states VRR and 8K gaming are supported.

2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 and ports

The PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition has 2TB of built-in SSD storage; Sony notes part of it is reserved for system software, so usable space is lower. The PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition supports Wi-Fi 7 where the standard is permitted, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 5 routers, plus gigabit Ethernet. On the front are two USB Type-C ports (one 10Gbps, one High-Speed), and on the back two USB Type-A ports at 10Gbps. Sony lists the size as about 388 × 89 × 216 mm (width × height × depth) and the weight as around 3.1 kg. An M.2 SSD from a PS5 can be moved across to expand storage.

A disc-less console

PS5 Pro is sold only as a disc-less console, which is why this unit is listed as the PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition. You buy and download games from PlayStation Store. If you want physical games later, Sony sells the Disc Drive for PS5 separately; once attached, it plays PS5 and supported PS4 discs, plus 4K Blu-ray and DVD. Sony states over 8,500 PS4 games are playable on PS5 Pro, with a small number of exceptions listed at playstation.com/bc, and PS5 Pro Game Boost may stabilise or improve performance in supported PS4 and PS5 games.

TDRA-approved UAE version

This PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition is the UAE version approved by the TDRA, the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, which means it is cleared for official sale in the Emirates. That is why it carries the local agent’s warranty, honoured at Sony’s authorised service centres in the UAE, together with a 1-year warranty from Totot. A DualSense wireless controller comes with the PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition, and the console works with existing PS5 accessories such as PlayStation VR2, PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge, Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore.

Who This Is Not For

The PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Digital Edition is not for anyone playing on a 1080p or 1440p screen, where the extra resolution headroom and PSSR have little to show. Disc collectors must buy the Disc Drive for PS5 separately. Games that have not been enhanced for PS5 Pro see much smaller gains. It is a large console at around 3.1 kg, and Wi-Fi 7 needs a compatible router.
