The MSI MAG 244C is a 24-inch-class curved gaming monitor with a 23.6-inch VA panel, a 1500R curve and a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution refreshed at up to 180Hz. MSI quotes a 1ms response time measured as MPRT, supports AMD FreeSync, and rates the colour gamut at 105% sRGB. It is aimed at players who want a faster-than-60Hz screen for competitive games on a desk with limited space, without paying for 1440p.

MSI MAG 244C panel: 180Hz on a 1500R curve
The screen is a 23.6-inch VA panel with a 1500R curvature, which bends the edges gently towards your eyes at normal desk distance. At 1920 x 1080 on 23.6 inches the pixel pitch is 0.27156 mm, so text and game HUDs look crisp from a typical 60 to 70 cm seat position. The surface is anti-glare, which helps under bright office lighting or a window.
The refresh rate tops out at 180Hz. MSI lists HDMI 2.0b as capable of FHD at 180Hz; DisplayPort 1.2a (HBR2) is the second input. To reach 180 frames per second in a game, your graphics card must actually render that many, so esports titles such as Valorant, CS2 or Rocket League on a mid-range GPU are where the MSI MAG 244C shows its speed best.
Response time and motion: what 1ms MPRT means
MSI rates the response time at 1ms MPRT. MPRT describes perceived motion blur, meaning how long each image persists on screen; it is not the same as grey-to-grey pixel transition time, which MSI does not publish for this model. In practice the high refresh rate is what makes the biggest difference to motion clarity over a 60Hz or 75Hz office screen.
AMD FreeSync matches the monitor’s refresh rate to your graphics card’s frame output, which removes tearing and reduces stutter when frame rates move up and down. MSI lists the adaptive sync as AMD FreeSync.
Colour and contrast from the VA panel
The main reason to pick VA over IPS at this price is contrast. MSI rates the static contrast at 3000:1, which gives darker blacks in night scenes and dark rooms than a typical IPS panel’s figure. The 100,000,000:1 dynamic contrast figure is a marketing measurement of the backlight adjusting over time, not something you see within a single frame.
MSI lists 105% sRGB, 84% DCI-P3 and 87% Adobe RGB coverage (CIE 1976), with 10-bit colour produced as 8-bit plus FRC. Brightness is 250 nits in SDR. The monitor is labelled HDR Ready, meaning it accepts an HDR signal, but 250 nits is far below the brightness needed for true HDR highlights, so treat HDR here as a compatibility feature rather than an upgrade.
Gaming features: Night Vision, Console Mode and eye comfort
MSI includes AI Vision / Night Vision, which brightens dark areas so you can spot opponents hiding in shadows. MSI Console Mode uses HDMI CEC, so a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch can wake the monitor and switch to its input. Anti-Flicker and Less Blue Light modes are built in for long sessions.
Ports, stand and mounting
The MSI MAG 244C has one HDMI 2.0b port, one DisplayPort 1.2a port and a headphone output. There are no built-in speakers, so plan on headphones or desk speakers. Power comes from an external 12V 2.5A adapter rated for 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz, which matches UAE mains.
The included stand tilts from -5 to 20 degrees only; it does not adjust in height or swivel. If you need the screen higher, the 100 x 100 mm VESA mount accepts a standard monitor arm. With the stand the monitor measures 537.44 x 220.01 x 396.55 mm and weighs 2.9 kg net. A Kensington lock slot is provided. In the box MSI lists an HDMI cable, a power cord and a quick guide.
Who This Is Not For
If you work with detailed spreadsheets or photo editing, 1080p on 23.6 inches gives less workspace than a 1440p monitor. The stand has no height adjustment, so tall users or shared desks may need a VESA arm. There are no speakers, no USB-C and no USB hub. And if you want real HDR with bright highlights, a 250-nit HDR Ready screen will not deliver it.
