The ASTRO A50 Gen 5 Black is the fifth generation of Logitech G’s ASTRO A50, sold by Logitech as the ASTRO A50 (Gen 5). PLAYSYNC AUDIO: three systems, one button
With the ASTRO A50 Gen 5 Black, a PS5, an Xbox and a PC can all stay plugged into the base station over its three USB-C device inputs. Press the PLAYSYNC control on the headset and the audio moves to the next system, without unplugging a dongle or pairing again. What the ASTRO A50 Gen 5 Black does not do is video. Logitech’s support documentation is explicit that the A50 X handles HDMI video and audio while this model processes audio only, so when you change console you still change the TV input yourself. Because it uses USB-C rather than HDMI, it is more flexible about older consoles than the A50 X. The ASTRO A50 Gen 5 Black finish keeps it discreet beside dark consoles and hides handling marks well.
Who This Is Not For
The ASTRO A50 Gen 5 Black is open back, so it leaks sound and blocks little outside noise; it is a poor choice for a shared room where others want quiet, or for a noisy household. It does not switch video, so anyone who wants one TV input for two consoles should look at the ASTRO A50 X. The base station needs mains power and is the heart of the product, so it is not a travel headset, and there is no active noise cancellation.
