The Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass V2 is an officially licensed Harry Potter drinking glass from Paladone, the British maker of licensed gifts and homeware. Its decoration is the Hogwarts crest: the symbols of the four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, arranged around the crest together with the school motto. Empty, the crest sits quietly on the glass. Pour in a cold drink and, as Paladone describes it, the design comes to life: the four quadrants of the crest change to scarlet, green, yellow and blue, held inside a gold outline. It is a simple everyday glass with a small piece of magic built in.

How the colour change works
The effect is triggered by cold, not by light or batteries. The Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass has no LED, no electronics and nothing to charge; the change comes from the printed crest itself reacting when a cold drink fills the glass. Paladone states that adding a cold drink brings the design to life, turning the four house quadrants scarlet, green, yellow and blue within the gold outline. As the drink warms or the glass is emptied and returns to room temperature, the colours fade back. That makes it a reveal you can repeat every time you pour, which is the part fans enjoy showing to friends and children. Paladone does not publish the exact temperature at which the colours appear, so chilled water, juice or a soft drink straight from the fridge is the reliable way to see the full effect.
The Hogwarts crest and the four houses
The design on the Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass follows the crest from the Wizarding World: the lion of Gryffindor, the badger of Hufflepuff, the eagle of Ravenclaw and the serpent of Slytherin, with the Hogwarts motto included in the artwork. Because the product is officially licensed, the crest is the approved artwork rather than a look-alike drawing. When the glass is cold, each house gets its own colour, so scarlet sits with Gryffindor, yellow with Hufflepuff, blue with Ravenclaw and green with Slytherin. For a family where everyone has a favourite house, it is a neutral choice: one glass that represents all four rather than taking sides.
Who the Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass suits
Paladone pitches the glass as a gift for Harry Potter fans of all ages, and it fits that role well. Younger readers who have just finished the first books enjoy watching the crest change at the dinner table, while older fans who grew up with the films tend to buy it for a desk, a themed shelf or a movie-night tray. It also works as an easy add-on gift with a book set, a wand or a house scarf, because it needs no explanation: the recipient pours a cold drink and sees the result. At home in the UAE, where cold water and iced juice are on the table most of the year, the glass gets plenty of chances to show its effect.
Using and caring for the glass
Paladone’s product page does not publish care instructions, a capacity or the dimensions of the Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass. What we recommend for any glass with a printed colour change design is gentle handling: wash it by hand with a soft sponge and mild washing-up liquid, avoid scouring pads on the printed crest, and do not put it in the freezer, since frozen glass can crack. Hot drinks are not the intended use, because the reveal is designed around cold drinks. Treated like a good drinking glass rather than a camping cup, it will keep its look and its effect for everyday use.
What is in the box
The box contains one Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass V2 in Paladone’s licensed Harry Potter packaging. The packaging is presentable enough to give as it is, which saves wrapping for a birthday or Eid gift. There are no extra parts, coasters or accessories, and nothing to assemble or switch on. We sell the glass brand-new in its original box, so it reaches you in the same condition it left Paladone.
Who This Is Not For
The Hogwarts Colour Change Water Glass is not a light-up product: it has no LED and does not glow in the dark. It is not meant for hot drinks such as tea or coffee, since the effect is designed around cold drinks. Paladone does not publish its capacity, dimensions or dishwasher suitability, so it is not the right pick if you need a glass with a stated volume or one that can go through the dishwasher every day. It is a single glass, not a set.
