Google Fitbit Air Fog – Screenless Activity Tracker, Performance Loop Band, Up to 7-Day Battery

The Fitbit Air Fog is Google’s screenless activity tracker on a Performance Loop band in Fog — a pale, grey-green woven textile — closed with a polished silver stainless steel buckle. The pebble weighs 5.2 g on its own and 12 g with the band, Google rates it for up to 7 days per charge and water resistance to 50 m, and every reading is shown in the Google Health app on your phone rather than on your wrist.

How the Fitbit Air Fog Looks and Wears

Fog is the palest of the four standard Fitbit Air colours: a soft grey with a green cast, woven so the texture shows up close. Google pairs it with a polished silver stainless steel buckle, the same finish it uses on Lavender, while Obsidian gets matte black and Berry gets champagne gold. On the wrist the Fitbit Air Fog reads as quiet and light rather than sporty, and the silver buckle is the only shiny part.

The band itself is Google’s Performance Loop: recycled polyester and elastane yarn with a recycled stainless steel buckle, micro-adjustable, and one size for wrists 130–210 mm around. Because it is a hook-style loop rather than a pin buckle, you can tighten it a notch for a workout or sleep and loosen it at the desk without hunting for a hole.

Why Choose Fog — and How to Keep It Looking Pale

Pick the Fitbit Air Fog if you want a tracker that disappears against white, linen, grey or beige clothing — a kandura, an office shirt or summer sportswear — and if you plan to wear it all day and all night. A pale band also looks cooler in the UAE sun than a black one, though that is about looks, not a measured temperature difference.

The honest trade-off is that a light textile shows what it touches. Sunscreen, fake tan, make-up and dust from outdoor runs will mark Fog sooner than Obsidian. Google advises drying the band after it gets wet; for sweat and sunscreen, a rinse with plain water after the gym and letting the loop air-dry off the wrist keeps it closest to its original shade. If you know you will not do that, Obsidian hides marks better.

All four colours carry the same tracker, so the Fitbit Air Fog is purely a band choice. The pebble pushes out of the loop, so you can later add a second Fitbit Air band and swap without re-pairing anything.

A Tracker With No Screen

There is no display on the Fitbit Air Fog. Google built it to sit silently on the wrist, and the numbers you would normally glance at — steps, heart rate, sleep — are read in the Google Health app on your phone. It does contain a vibration motor, listed among its sensors, so it is not entirely passive.

The housing is recycled polycarbonate and PBT plastic, measuring 34.9 × 17 × 8.3 mm. That is small enough to sleep in without noticing, which matters, because overnight wear is where most of the useful data comes from.

What the Fitbit Air Fog Tracks Without a Subscription

Google lists the free base features: steps, calories, distance, cardio load and Readiness; sleep score, sleep schedule, sleep duration and sleep stages; and heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate and blood oxygen (SpO2). The sensors behind this are an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer with gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for SpO2, and a device temperature sensor, with skin temperature variation shown in the Google Health app.

Google also notes that optical heart rate accuracy is affected by physiology, where the device sits and different movements. For the best readings from the Fitbit Air Fog, wear it snug, a finger’s width above the wrist bone.

Google Health Premium and the UAE

Premium adds Google Health Coach, a personal coach built with Gemini, plus adaptive fitness plans, detailed sleep insights, proactive insights, a workout library and mindfulness sessions. Google includes a three-month Premium trial with Fitbit Air, and you must be over 18 to enrol.

The catch for buyers here: Google’s published list of countries where Google Health Premium and Google Health Coach are available does not include the UAE. The Fitbit Air Fog does not need Premium to track anything in the section above — the subscription adds coaching on top, it does not unlock the sensors.

Battery, Charging, Water and Phones

Google quotes up to 7 days per charge on a lithium-polymer battery; real results vary with settings and use. A full charge from 0 to 100% takes about 90 minutes, and a 5-minute quick charge gives about one day, using the USB-C cable in the box. The tracker is water resistant up to 50 metres.

You need the Google Health app on Android 11 or newer or iOS 16.4 or newer. Sync runs over Bluetooth 5.0 with a range of up to 30 ft (about 9 m). Away from the phone, it stores 7 days of minute-by-minute motion data, daily totals for the last 30 days, and heart rate at 2-second intervals until the next sync. Google does not list built-in GPS.

Who This Is Not For

Skip the Fitbit Air Fog if you want the time, notifications or your heart rate on your wrist — there is no screen. It is also the wrong pick if you are buying mainly for AI coaching, since Google does not list the UAE for Premium. Runners who want route tracking without carrying a phone need a GPS watch. And if you wear heavy sunscreen daily and will not rinse the band, a light colour like Fog will show it; Obsidian is the practical choice.
