God of War III Remastered PS4 – 1080p 60fps, Photo Mode, All DLC Costumes Included, Single-Player Action – PAL R2 Disc

The God of War III Remastered PS4 release brings the final chapter of the original Greek trilogy to PlayStation 4. Sony released it in July 2015, rebuilt from the PlayStation 3 game made by Santa Monica Studio. It is a single-player action-adventure game: you play as Kratos, the former Spartan warrior, on a climb from the depths of Hades to the peak of Mount Olympus. Sony lists it at 1080p and 60fps, adds a new Photo Mode and includes all previously released DLC costumes and content on the disc.

Kratos’ Last War on Olympus

Sony describes God of War III as the final chapter of the original God of War trilogy. Kratos has been betrayed by the gods of Olympus, and this time he wants more than an apology. The story takes him out of the underworld of Hades and up the slopes of Mount Olympus, where the gods who used him are waiting. Each step brings a fight with a figure from Greek mythology, from monsters to the gods themselves. The tone is dark and violent, and the game earns its adult age rating: PEGI lists violence and bad language, and the ESRB adds blood and gore, nudity and strong sexual content. If you played the earlier games, this is where the saga of the Ghost of Sparta reaches its end; if not, the story still works as a full revenge tale on its own.

Chained Blades, Magic and Puzzles

Combat is fast, close and built around Kratos’ signature double-chained blades. Sony’s description also promises new weapons and magic to unlock as you progress, so you can switch styles in the middle of a fight and keep long combos going. Enemies come straight from Greek mythology, from foot soldiers to towering beasts. Between battles, the game breaks up the action with puzzles and climbing through huge environments. On PS4 the remaster targets 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, which Sony and Santa Monica Studio highlighted at launch as smoother than the PlayStation 3 original. The DUALSHOCK 4 vibration is supported. The new Photo Mode lets you freeze the action mid-swing, adjust the camera and lighting, and then save or share the shot.

Single-Player, Photo Mode and Included Content

God of War III Remastered is a single-player game for 1 player; there is no online multiplayer and no split-screen. The main mode is the story campaign. On top of it, Sony states that all of the previously released DLC costumes and content from the PlayStation 3 version are included, so you do not need to buy extra packs. Photo Mode is new to this version. The PlayStation listing gives a minimum of 42GB of free storage for installation. The game supports 720p, 1080i and 1080p video output.

PAL R2 Disc, PS4 and PS5

This is a new, sealed PAL Region 2 physical disc for the Europe and Middle East market. PS4 games are not region-locked, so the disc plays on any PS4, PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro. Sony’s official page also says the game can be played on PS5, though some PS4 features may not be available; on PS5 you need a console with a disc drive. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.

Who This Is Not For

This is a remaster of a PlayStation 3 game, so the art and animation look older than modern PS4 or PS5 titles even at 1080p. There is no multiplayer, online or split-screen. The game is rated PEGI 18 for strong violence, gore, nudity and sexual content, so it is not for younger players. Story newcomers may miss context from the first two games, which are not on this disc.
