Description

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is the version of the Osmo Mobile 7 that includes the Multifunctional Module in the box and adds a built-in extension rod. That is the whole difference between the two, and it is worth knowing exactly what it buys you. Below we also publish the phone compatibility range and the operating temperature, because both of them rule out real situations in the UAE and neither is on any listing we have seen.

DJI Osmo Mobile 7P 3-axis smartphone gimbal with Multifunctional Module and built-in tripod

Check your phone against the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P clamp range before you order

This is the specification that decides whether the gimbal works for you at all, and almost nobody prints it. DJI publishes a compatible phone width of 67 to 84 mm, a thickness of 6.9 to 10 mm, and a weight of 170 to 300 grams.

The thickness figure is the one that catches people. Your phone is almost certainly within 6.9 to 10 mm on its own. Add a case, and a rugged one in particular, and you can be past 10 mm without realising. Most people end up taking the case off to mount the phone, which is fine but worth knowing on day one rather than day two.

The weight range matters at the bottom as well as the top. A phone lighter than 170 grams sits below what DJI specifies, and a very light phone on a gimbal balanced for heavier ones can behave oddly. Most current flagships are comfortably inside the range.

Measure the width across the body, not the screen. If you are within all three figures, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P will hold your phone properly, and the difference between a properly balanced gimbal and a marginal one is the difference between smooth footage and motors fighting all day.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P works from 0 to 40 degrees, which matters here more than anywhere

DJI publishes an operating temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius for this gimbal. That is a normal figure for consumer electronics and it is a real constraint in the UAE.

Summer afternoons here routinely go past 40 degrees outdoors, and a car parked in the sun goes far past it. Above the rated range, lithium batteries degrade faster, motors run hotter and electronics throttle or shut down to protect themselves. Nothing dramatic happens the first time, but repeated heat exposure shortens the life of the battery permanently.

Practical version: do not leave the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P in a parked car in July, and do not expect it to run all afternoon in direct sun in August. Shoot in the morning or the evening, keep it in a bag out of direct sunlight between takes, and it will behave.

This applies to every gimbal, phone and camera sold here. We are stating it because the number is on DJI specification sheet and not on any listing, and because a customer who cooks a battery and then blames the product is a bad outcome for everybody.

What the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P adds over the Osmo Mobile 7

Two things separate the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P from the base model, and both are physical rather than software. First, the Multifunctional Module comes in the box as standard. On the base Osmo Mobile 7 it is an optional extra you buy separately. Second, the 7P has a built-in extension rod.

The Multifunctional Module is a small unit that clips onto the gimbal and does two jobs. It provides a fill light, which DJI rates at 40 lux measured at 0.6 metres with a colour temperature adjustable from 2500 to 6000 K. And it handles subject tracking independently of the phone, which is what lets the gimbal follow you when the phone camera app is not the one doing the tracking.

40 lux at 0.6 metres is a face light for close range, not a video light for a room. It fills shadows under your eyes on a selfie or a piece to camera at arm length. It will not light a subject two metres away and it is not trying to.

The adjustable colour temperature from 2500 to 6000 K is the genuinely useful part. 2500 K matches warm indoor lamps and 6000 K matches daylight, so the fill light can be set not to fight the light already in the room. A fixed-temperature fill light makes skin look wrong in half the situations you use it.

If you already own an Osmo Mobile 7 and the module, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P offers you only the extension rod.

The built-in extension rod and tripod on the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P

DJI publishes a maximum extension length of 215 mm for the built-in rod. That is roughly 21 cm of extra reach that lives inside the handle rather than being a separate stick you have to remember to bring.

21 cm does not sound like much until you use it. It is the difference between a selfie framed at arm length, where your arm dominates the shot, and one framed wide enough to include the people and the place you are actually in. For group shots, for filming yourself walking, and for shooting over a crowd, the rod is used constantly.

The built-in tripod is 67 mm. Folded out, it stands the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P on a table for a video call, a static piece to camera or a timelapse. Again, the point is that it is built in. A gimbal accessory you have to carry separately is one you will leave at home.

Folded, the whole thing is 190 by 95 by 46 mm. Unfolded it is 288 by 107 by 96 mm. Folded it fits in a jacket pocket or the side pouch of a bag, which is the argument for a phone gimbal over a camera in the first place.

Battery and weight on the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P, with the conditions attached

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P battery is a 3350 mAh Li-Po 1S cell and DJI rates it at approximately 10 hours. Read the condition DJI attaches to that figure: it is measured stationary and without accessories.

Stationary means the motors are holding position rather than actively correcting for you walking. Without accessories means the Multifunctional Module and its fill light are not running. Both of those draw power. Real use with the module on, the light on and you walking around will be meaningfully less than 10 hours, and that is true of every gimbal rated this way.

Ten hours stationary is still a lot. For a day of filming with the light used occasionally, you will not run out. For a full day of continuous walking shots with the fill light on, bring a power bank.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P charges over USB-C in approximately 2.5 hours with a 10 W charger, and it can charge your phone from its own battery. That last feature is genuinely useful on a long shoot and it comes out of the gimbal runtime, so treat it as an emergency top-up rather than a plan.

Weight is approximately 368 grams for the gimbal with tripod, clamp and Multifunctional Module together. That is heavier than the base Osmo Mobile 7 because it includes the module, and it is still light enough to hold out at the end of the extension rod without your arm complaining after a minute.

Gimbal movement and connectivity on the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P

DJI publishes the mechanical range as pan from -109 to 222 degrees, roll from -77 to 255 degrees and tilt from -224 to 100 degrees.

Those numbers describe how far each motor can physically travel, and the practical reading is that this gimbal can do the full range of shots people actually want: a pan that follows a subject past you, a tilt from the ground to the sky in one move, and the roll needed for a Dutch angle or to keep the horizon level while you lean.

Connectivity is Bluetooth 5.3 to the phone. DJI describes the tracking as ActiveTrack 7.0, and the Multifunctional Module is what lets the gimbal track a subject on its own rather than depending entirely on the phone app.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P works with both iPhone and Android, within the size and weight range published above.

Who the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is not for

Not for a phone outside the published range. Width 67 to 84 mm, thickness 6.9 to 10 mm, weight 170 to 300 grams. Check before you order, and remember a case adds thickness.

Not for shooting outdoors in the middle of a UAE summer afternoon. DJI rates it to 40 degrees Celsius and a July afternoon here is past that.

Not for lighting a scene. The Multifunctional Module fill light is 40 lux at 0.6 metres, which is a face light at close range and nothing more.

Not for ten hours of active use with the light on. That figure is measured stationary with no accessories running.

Not for a camera. This is a phone gimbal. If you want to stabilise a mirrorless body, you need a different class of product entirely.

Not for anyone who already owns an Osmo Mobile 7 and the Multifunctional Module, because the only thing the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P adds for you is the extension rod.

And not for anyone who wants the cheapest DJI gimbal. The base Osmo Mobile 7 exists and costs less. What you are paying for here is the module included and the rod built in.

Buying the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P in the UAE

If you are making content, the 7P is the version that makes sense, because buying the base gimbal and then buying the Multifunctional Module separately usually costs more than buying them together. And the extension rod is the feature you will use on every single shoot without thinking about it.

DJI charges its own phone charging feature to the gimbal battery, folds a tripod into the base and hides a 21 cm rod in the handle. That is a lot of engineering in 368 grams, and it is why this class of gimbal has effectively replaced the selfie stick for anyone serious about how their footage looks.

Every figure on this page comes from DJI own published specification sheet for the Osmo Mobile 7 series, using the figures DJI lists for the 7P rather than the base Osmo Mobile 7. Where DJI attaches a condition to a number, such as the battery runtime being measured stationary and without accessories, we have kept the condition attached to it. Full details are published on the official DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Series specification page.

FAQ

What is the difference between the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P and the Osmo Mobile 7?

Two things. The 7P includes the Multifunctional Module in the box, where it is a separate purchase on the base 7. And the 7P has a built-in extension rod with 215 mm of reach. Everything else is the same.

Will my phone fit the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P?

If it is 67 to 84 mm wide, 6.9 to 10 mm thick and weighs 170 to 300 grams, yes. The thickness is the one to check, because a case can push a phone past 10 mm. Most people mount the phone without its case.

How long does the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P battery really last?

DJI rates it at approximately 10 hours from the 3,350 mAh battery, measured stationary and without accessories running. With the Multifunctional Module and its fill light on, and with you walking, it will be less. For a normal day of filming it is plenty.

How bright is the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P fill light?

40 lux measured at 0.6 metres, with colour temperature adjustable from 2500 to 6000 K. That is a face light for close range, useful for filling shadows on a piece to camera at arm length. It will not light a room or a subject two metres away.

Can the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P charge my phone?

Yes, from its own battery. It is a useful emergency top-up rather than a plan, because it comes out of the gimbal runtime.

Can I use it outdoors in the UAE summer?

Not in the middle of the afternoon. DJI rates the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P for 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, and a July or August afternoon here is past that. Shoot in the morning or evening, and never leave it in a parked car.

Does the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P work with iPhone and Android?

Yes, both, within the published size and weight range. It connects over Bluetooth 5.3.

What warranty comes with it?

One year from Totot against manufacturing defects. The product title carries no TDRA registration, so no separate agent warranty applies, and we say so rather than let you assume coverage that is not there.
