The Disaster Report 4 PS4 disc, full title Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories, is a survival action-adventure developed by Granzella and published in the West by NIS America. NIS America lists its release on PS4 as 7 April 2020. You play an ordinary person caught in a huge earthquake in a modern Japanese city, and you must find a way out while the city falls apart around you. Your decisions about the people you meet change how your journey ends, and the PS4 version adds an optional PS VR mode.
Disaster Report 4 PS4: Table of Contents
One Summer Day, One Massive Earthquake
The official description sets the scene simply: a calm summer day turns into catastrophe when a massive earthquake strikes the city, throwing buildings and lives into chaos. You play a male or female protagonist with no special powers, just a person trying to escape. To survive, you must navigate familiar places, such as streets, shops and offices, under very unfamiliar circumstances. Along the way you meet other survivors, and each one asks something of you. The ESRB summary notes that you can choose whether to befriend or betray the people you meet. NIS America says that the survivors you meet and the crucial decisions you make affect the course of your experience and ultimately decide how your journey through the crisis ends, so different playthroughs can feel quite different.
Explore, Examine and Choose
Disaster Report 4 is not a combat game. The official manual tells players to pause, stay calm and carefully observe their surroundings, and the core actions are moving and examining. You search areas for useful items and hidden actions, listen to other survivors and pick replies that can help or harm them. Damaged buildings and chaos in the streets keep the tension high, and some situations test your morals as much as your nerves. The ESRB notes moments such as choosing whether to join a mob, and scenes where you can choose to drink wine. Many choices are small, but together they shape your character and your ending. Costumes and items can be unlocked, and the game rewards players who explore every corner instead of rushing to the next safe zone.
Single Player and the PS VR Mode
Disaster Report 4 is a single-player game; the PlayStation Store lists 1 player. On PS4 there is also a VR Mode, which needs a PlayStation VR headset and the PlayStation Camera. According to NIS America’s manual, you open it from the title screen, and VR stages unlock as you visit more places in the main game. In VR you search for hidden stickers and exchange them for items and costumes in the main game. VR is fully optional, and the main game plays on a normal TV.
Retail Disc, Region and PS5
You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories for PS4. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4. The PlayStation Store says the game is playable on PS5 through backward compatibility, although some PS4 features may be absent. The PlayStation Store lists a minimum of 18GB of storage. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
Players who want fast action or shooting should look elsewhere: this is a slow, story-driven survival adventure. The ESRB rates it Teen for blood, language, sexual themes, alcohol use and violence, including a scene of an assault, so it is not for younger children. It is single-player only. The VR Mode needs the original PS VR headset and Camera and is a side mode, not the full game.
