The Armored Core VI PS4 disc, full title Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, is FromSoftware’s return to its mech combat series, published by Bandai Namco and released on 25 August 2023. It is a fast action game in which you build your own mech from a large set of parts and weapons, then take it into missions on the remote planet Rubicon 3. You play an independent mercenary caught between powerful corporations and resistance groups fighting over a mysterious energy source.

A Mercenary on the Burning World of Rubicon 3
The official story starts with a discovery. A new substance was found on the remote planet Rubicon 3, and humanity’s attempt to use it triggered a cosmic catastrophe. The planet and the nearby star system were engulfed in flames and storms, a disaster now known as the Burning Star System. About half a century later, the substance has resurfaced and Rubicon 3 is sealed off. Corporations from beyond the planet and local resistance groups are fighting for control of it. You enter this war as an independent mercenary, an armored core pilot who takes jobs from the different sides. The setting is cold and hostile, and the conflict grows with each mission. Bandai Namco and Sony present it as a dynamic action sequel, so newcomers can start here without playing the earlier Armored Core games.
Build Your Mech, Then Fly Into Battle
Customisation is at the centre of the game. Sony’s listing describes a parts system in which every frame part and weapon changes your strategy, manoeuvrability and battle style, so a light, fast build plays very differently from a heavy, armoured one. Combat is omni-directional and uses your mech’s mobility on land and in the air, mixing ranged weapons and melee attacks with a strong focus on three-dimensional movement. Missions are fast-paced, and the game’s boss battles ask you to switch between offensive and defensive tactics at both close and long range. Because the challenge is high, much of the fun is in going back to the garage, changing the setup and trying again. This loop of build, test and adjust is what the series is known for, and FromSoftware brings it to PS4 in full.
Campaign and Online Matches
The main content is a single-player campaign of missions for 1 player. Online multiplayer is optional and requires a PlayStation Plus membership; the PlayStation listing supports up to 9 online players. Bandai Namco’s updates mention ranked play with seasonal leaderboards for single match and team match. Remote Play is supported. Voice acting is in English and Japanese, with on-screen text in English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian and Spanish according to the PlayStation listing. There is no split-screen and no PS VR support.
PAL R2 Disc, PS4 and the Free PS5 Upgrade
This is a new, sealed PAL Region 2 physical disc for the Europe and Middle East market. PS4 games are not region-locked, so the disc plays on any PS4, PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro. Bandai Namco states that PlayStation supports a free upgrade to the PS5 version; with a disc copy, upgrading and playing need a PS5 with a disc drive. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.
Who This Is Not For
Armored Core VI is demanding. Boss fights are hard and often need several attempts and changes to your mech, which can frustrate casual players. Online matches need a paid PlayStation Plus membership, and there is no split-screen. Arabic is not among the listed voice or text languages. If you dislike menus and tuning parts, the heavy focus on garage customisation may not suit you.
