Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ragnarok Edition PS4 – Base Game + Dawn of Ragnarök Expansion, Viking Open World, Raids & Settlement – PAL R2 Disc

The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ragnarok Edition PS4 package combines Ubisoft’s Viking open-world action RPG with its largest expansion. The base game launched in November 2020 (12 November 2020 in Europe per PlayStation.com), developed by Ubisoft Montréal, and the Ragnarök Edition followed on 10 March 2022. According to Ubisoft and Sony, this edition includes the base game and the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion. You play as Eivor, a Viking raider leading a clan from Norway to England, then take on the role of Odin in a new mythical realm.

Eivor’s Saga, Then Odin’s Quest

In the base game you become Eivor, a Viking raider who leads a clan. Ubisoft’s story sends Eivor and the clan from the harsh shores of Norway to the kingdoms of England during the Dark Ages, in search of a new home and a richer life. The choices you make in dialogue, alliances and combat shape how the story plays out. The Dawn of Ragnarök expansion is a separate saga in the world of Norse myth. Here you embody Odin, who sets out to rescue his son Baldr. The journey takes you into Svartalfheim, a mythical realm of the dwarves, where enemies made of ice and fire stand in your way. Together the two parts make a long adventure that moves from historical England to the realms of Norse legend.

Raids, Settlement and Divine Powers

Valhalla is an open-world action RPG. Ubisoft highlights visceral combat in which you can dual-wield powerful weapons such as axes, swords and even shields, alongside bows and the Hidden Blade. You sail by longship from Norway to England, lead your clan on raids against enemy strongholds and bring the loot home. That loot feeds your settlement, where you build structures such as a barracks, a blacksmith and a tattoo parlour, and recruit new clan members. Advanced RPG systems cover character growth, political alliances and gear progression, and you can hunt legendary beasts along the way. In Dawn of Ragnarök, Odin gains new god-like powers that change how you fight and move, giving the expansion its own play style instead of simply adding more of the same.

Single-Player with Optional Online

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a 1-player game. The PlayStation listing marks online play as optional, and the main campaign and expansion are single-player. There is no split-screen and no PS VR support. The game offers optional in-game purchases, which is why PEGI lists an In-Game Purchases descriptor. Sony’s listing also notes a wide set of accessibility options, including subtitles, controller remapping and adjustable difficulty. Voice and text languages vary by regional version. Since the story content is offline, you do not need a PlayStation Plus membership to play the base game or Dawn of Ragnarök.

PAL R2 Disc, PS4 and PS5

This is a new, sealed PAL Region 2 retail disc of the Ragnarök Edition for the Europe and Middle East market. PS4 games are not region-locked, so it plays on any PS4, PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro. Sony’s page states the game can be played on PS5, with some PS4 features possibly absent; a PS5 with a disc drive is needed. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.

Who This Is Not For

Valhalla is very long and can feel slow and repetitive for players who want a short, focused story. It is rated PEGI 18 for violence and language. The Season Pass content, Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris, is not part of this edition. Large updates and downloads may be needed, and the 60fps and dynamic 4K upgrades are PS5-only, not on the PS4 version.
