Pairing and charging over USB-C
Slide the cap back to reveal a USB-C port. Connect the pencil to your iPad with a USB-C cable to pair it, and use the same kind of cable to charge it. A magnet along one side holds it to the edge of the iPad for storage and transport, but it does not charge the pencil. Apple does not include a cable in the box, so you use the USB-C cable that came with your iPad. The cap protects the port from dust and lint in bags and pencil cases.

Who This Is Not For
The Apple Pencil USB-C is not for artists who need pressure-sensitive strokes: Apple does not list pressure sensitivity for it. It does not charge wirelessly on the iPad magnet, it has no double tap, squeeze, barrel roll or Find My, and no USB-C cable comes in the box. It does not work with iPads that have a Lightning port, such as the 9th-generation iPad.
