Sony WH-CH730N Pink Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones – Up to 50 Hours with ANC, Foldable, Bluetooth 6.0 Multipoint, LE Audio

The Sony WH-CH730N Pink is a soft, pastel noise cancelling headphone made for university life: quiet reading in a busy library, focused revision in a café, and online lectures that run straight into a call home. It is the new successor to the WH-CH720N, with Dual Noise Sensor noise cancelling, an Ambient Sound mode with 20 levels, and up to 50 hours of music with noise cancelling on.

It folds flat into a backpack, connects to a laptop and a phone at the same time, and charges for an hour of listening in just 3 minutes between classes. Here is how it fits a student’s day, what the pink finish is like to live with, and where it falls short.

Why the Sony WH-CH730N Pink? A Soft Colour That Feels Personal

Sony’s pink is a pale, dusty shade rather than a bright candy colour. It looks calm and grown-up, and it matches pastel outfits, beige tote bags, cream hoodies and light denim, which makes it a favourite for students who treat headphones as part of their everyday look.

It is also a quiet way to make a shared study space feel like yours. In a lecture hall full of black headphones, a pink pair is easy to recognise on a crowded table and less likely to be picked up by mistake.

One honest care note: a light colour shows marks. Foundation, concealer, sunscreen and hair products can leave tinted traces on the headband and ear cushions over time. Wipe them gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoid harsh solvents or alcohol on the cushions, and let them dry before storing. Removing the headphones before applying makeup also helps keep the pink clean for longer.

Sony WH-CH730N Pink in the Library: Noise Cancelling for Focus

Noise cancelling is the reason to pick the Sony WH-CH730N Pink over the lighter WH-CH530. Sony’s Dual Noise Sensor technology uses four microphones in total, two feedforward and two feedback, to create anti-phase sound that cancels steady noise such as air conditioning, coffee machines, printers and the general hum of a study hall.

Walking between buildings brings wind, and Sony has repositioned the feedforward microphones for the new design to reduce wind noise in both noise cancelling and ambient modes. That makes the walk from the dorm to the faculty more pleasant, and it helps during calls outdoors too.

Adaptive Sound Control in the Sony Sound Connect app can switch between noise cancelling and ambient sound, and change EQ presets, automatically based on what you are doing and where you are. Set it once and the Sony WH-CH730N Pink can go quiet in the library and open up on the walk to the bus stop.

Sony WH-CH730N Pink Ambient Sound: Hear a Classmate Without Taking It Off

Group study means short interruptions: a friend asking for a page number, a librarian’s announcement, your name called at the café counter. Ambient Sound mode lets outside sound in, and the app offers 20 levels so you can choose anything from a faint background to near-natural hearing. Sony says ambient sound on the Sony WH-CH730N Pink and the other colours of this model is more natural than on the WH-CH720N.

Voice Focus, also set in the app, lets voices through while still reducing other noise. It is a practical middle ground when you want to stay aware of the people around your table without hearing every chair scrape and keyboard click.

Long Study Sessions With the Sony WH-CH730N Pink

Reading with music works best when the music stays in the background. On the Sony WH-CH730N Pink, the BGM effect in the app makes your playlist sound as if it is coming from speakers in a room rather than straight into your ears, a gentle effect that suits essays, coding sessions and revision notes.

For long hours, Safe Listening compares your listening level with WHO recommendations, and a maximum volume limit with 5 levels keeps the sound under a ceiling you choose. After a full day of lectures and a late study session, that is an easy habit to build.

Comfort matters just as much. Sony uses heat-formed, wrinkle-free cushions and an optimised clamping force designed for long wear, with a slim, lightweight headband. The headphones weigh about 207 g. Sound comes from 30 mm dynamic drivers with a balanced, clear tuning, DSEE to restore detail in compressed streams, a 10-band equaliser with five presets plus a Game preset, and 360 Reality Audio certification.

Sony WH-CH730N Pink Battery Between Lectures and a Fold-Flat Design

Sony rates the battery at up to 50 hours of music with noise cancelling on and up to 75 hours with it off (AAC, DSEE and EQ off, other settings default). Talk time is up to 35 hours with noise cancelling on and up to 40 hours with it off. For most students that is a full week of classes between charges.

If you forget to charge overnight, a 3-minute quick charge gives about 1 hour of playback, and 10 minutes gives about 4.5 hours (AAC, NC on), enough to get through a morning of lectures. A full charge takes about 3 hours over USB, and Battery Care charging, enabled in the app, stops before 100% to reduce battery wear across the years of a degree.

The new folding mechanism makes the Sony WH-CH730N Pink more compact than before, so it slips into a backpack next to a laptop and notebooks. Sony also uses recycled material in part of the body and plastic-free individual packaging made from a blend of bamboo, sugarcane and recycled paper.

Sony WH-CH730N Pink for Online Lectures, Group Calls and a Laptop Plus Phone

On the Sony WH-CH730N Pink, multipoint keeps two devices connected at once, with calls and music on each. A typical setup is a laptop for a recorded lecture or video seminar and a phone for messages, so a call from home can come through without re-pairing. The pairing memory holds up to 8 devices, and Swift Pair on Windows 10 and 11 and Google Fast Pair on Android 6.0 or later make the first connection quick.

For your own voice, Precise Voice Pickup uses AI noise reduction, a new dedicated call microphone near the mouth and beamforming, so classmates hear you clearly in a noisy common room. Super Wideband calls carry about twice the voice band of wideband on a compatible phone.

A detachable 1.2 m cable with a gold-plated L-shaped 3.5 mm plug is listed in the Sony accessories, useful for a lab computer or a desktop with a headphone socket. Bluetooth 6.0 with SBC, AAC and LC3, LE Audio and Auracast Broadcast Audio round out the connection options.

Who This Is Not For

If you mostly listen at home and never need noise cancelling, the WH-CH530 is lighter at about 150 g and costs less. The WH-CH730N’s 207 g is still light for an over-ear model, but it is not the lightest pair in Sony’s range.

Anyone who wants a colour that never shows marks should choose a darker shade, since the pale pink reveals makeup and sunscreen over time. Sony also does not publish a water-resistance rating, so this is not a gym or rain headphone.

iPhone users should note that Sony Japan lists built-in Google Assistant support as not available on iOS. LE Audio favours low latency, so sound can drop in crowded radio conditions such as a packed campus hall; Sony recommends switching to Priority on stable connection in the app. And the Sony Japan box list shows the audio cable but no charging cable, so keep a USB charger handy.
