ASTRO A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR for Xbox (Gen 4) – Open-Back Wired Gaming Headset, Dolby Audio, Game/Voice Balance, Stream Output, Xbox Series X|S/PC

The ASTRO A40 TR + MixAmp Pro TR Xbox is the wired pro-level headset and amplifier bundle from Logitech G’s ASTRO line, in its fourth-generation Xbox version. The A40 TR is an open-back headset with 40 mm drivers and a swappable boom mic, and the MixAmp Pro TR adds Dolby Audio, a game-to-voice balance dial and a stream output for creators.

Open-back sound

Open-back cups let air and sound pass through, which gives a wider, more natural soundstage than closed headsets and makes positional audio easier to read. Logitech lists 40 mm drivers, 20 Hz to 20 kHz and 48 Ω. An optional mod kit, sold separately, converts the headset to closed-back for noisy rooms.

What the MixAmp Pro TR adds

The MixAmp sits on the desk between the Xbox and the headset. Its dial balances game audio against party chat, the EQ modes are set in ASTRO Command Center on PC or Mac, and Dolby Audio is built in. A stream output sends game and voice to a capture setup, and several MixAmps can be daisy-chained for LAN play.

Xbox version

This bundle is the Xbox version (939-001659), connecting to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One by USB, with Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic support on the console. It also works with PC and Mac. The headset alone uses a 3.5 mm cable, so it can also plug into a controller or Switch.

Swappable boom mic

The 6 mm unidirectional mic has a noise gate and can be fitted on either side of the headset. The included 2.0 m inline cable carries a mute switch, so you can cut chat quickly without reaching for the MixAmp.

Who This Is Not For

It is wired: the headset connects by cable to the MixAmp and the MixAmp by USB to the console, so it does not suit couch play far from the TV. Open-back cups leak sound, so people nearby will hear your game. At 369 g it is heavier than lightweight wireless headsets. And this is the Xbox version; PlayStation needs the separate PS version.
